It would be nice to be able to see the original message you are replying too. When you reply to a message post, all the previous messages are listed below. Can this be done on the message side? I keep asking people for information that they have already sent

PM's are not saved in "threads" like forum messages are. Each one is a unique object, completely unconnected to the others. It probably wouldn't be that easy to make the change you are talking about. The only thing I can suggest is use the "quote" button rather than the reply button to respond to a PM message. If your PM-correspondent does the same, you'll have the whole "thread" in each new message.
