This is a puzzle that was Given to me as a gift from japan. Its the get the pieces of the puzzle apart type, or that's at least the best way I know how to describe it. So far though this one has been the hardest one I have tried. Anyway here are some photos...

I've got that one and a few others. It's the Hanayama Cast Puzzles collection. They sell them for under $10 each at Borders Books and Barnes & Noble. Ebay seems to be flooded with them these days too...

Very nice puzzles. And no, I haven't figured that one out yet. My favorite of the bunch so far is NEWS.

Aren't those just basically strength puzzle? Or is there some position you have to get it in before it will work?

This particular puzzle is by my friend Oskar van Deventer. The solution involves no forcing, but it's extremely difficult.

There is two indents I think the solution has something to do with those. I was reading the description on the website and noticed something I thought was interesting. Once you get it apart if you get it back together depending on the middle piece you use there is A different solution. Its like 3 puzzles in 1.

The Hanayama series of puzzles is brilliant, and always of great quality.

The Cast Chain is very challenging and an excellent choice to buy.
Other Hanayama puzzles which I really love are the Cast News,
Cast Enigma, Cast Radix, Cast O'Gear, and Cast Laby.

:)

I have Cast Laby and Cast Cuby.
The latter is said to be based on an Oskar van Deventer puzzle called the Wanderer and is a 3D maze...
