Popped by a toystore today to pick up a game for my son. I noticed they had a new edition of the old Merlin toy. Rubik's relevance: one of the 6 games is like a 3x3 version of Light's Out. More details on Jaap's page.

The new edition is only about 15cm long (the original is more like 30cm). And it talks. The in-game sound effects are exactly the same (yay!), but when you turn it on or select a level it uses a digitized voice.

I didn't purchase one since I have the original in working condition.

You must be joking. That is so retro. I've always been meaning to pick up an old one on ebay.
