Hi Non-Twisty Puzzles fans,

Cold Fusion is a six-piece burr, but not a classic one. The pieces are helical and the puzzle is taken apart and put together by pushing the pieces in a helical motion. PuzzleMaster is now selling a limited-edition version of this puzzle (produced by Shapeways, fully dyed and assembled) for only $29.99 (Canadian dollars).

Watch the YouTube video.
Buy the puzzle at PuzzleMaster.
Read more at the Shapeways Forum.
Check out the photos below.

Enjoy!

Oskar

A very nice looking puzzle!

It's a shame that the black looks to be wearing off onto the other colours though.

Hi Oskar,

it did not bend back again when I went trough x-ray at the aiport (there was some story about that I heard ;) ). So I solved it in its current form and it was one of the first Exchange puzzles I tried. Very nice puzzle and concept!

I believe the answer to your question from the video is the: Arch Burr Puzzle http://puzzles.schwandtner.info/puzzle_812.html -- also a very nice puzzle.

I was half expecting Oskar to have developed a usable cold fusion system to generate electricity. This is just about as cool though!

So this is basically the inverse of the Candy Wrapper, right? The burrs connect the long way around instead of the short way.

I don't think I would be able to put this back together even if the ends had velcro instead of burrs.

Since I did, I know you all can.
When I tossed mine into a pot of boiling water it didn't straighten out either :? I wonder which of the methods I heard is the one that will work?
