I have come up with a new use for Neoballs, (5mm diameter magnetic spheres, kind of like the neocube).
It is a shifting puzzle with four colours I call the NeoShift:

Would those "additional" turns actually make it easier to solve? I know having the same pieces but more turning axes makes puzzles easier on OTHER twisty puzzles, but I'm not sure if that is universal, or if this could even be considered a twisty puzzle.

I think it's a fantastic idea, and I actually have a reason to pick up some of these magnets at some point now!

Actually, using the additional moves to Scramble the puzzle increases the number of combinations of the puzzle greatly. Once you have used the twisting moves, it is usually impossible to solve without them. Thanks for your feedback guys

Those fold and twist operations reminds me of the Rubik's Magic. I think you created a 3D analog for that puzzle.
