It also seems to me like a 3D Connect Four. That game as well, as tic-tac-toe (noughts and crosses), is played with two people. Cubulus allows two or three people to play, which I think can really change how the game is played. Also, you can move pieces that others have already placed. While the game doesn't use a completely new concept, I think it still seems unique.
