I was alerted a while back about a new type of puzzle that was available at a local specialty woodworking shop. After waiting for them to come in (then after a lot of other distractions) I finally have the chance to show them off to the forum. The puzzles come in a pack of 2:

The first of the two is very easy to solve:



It merely has a secret screw at the head. Once you unscrew it, you can easily remove the nut. The second is a little bit more difficult:



You have to hold the bolt and unscrew by the nut. As you can see, the bolt splits into 2 pieces. They don't lie flush under the nut, so if you try to move the nut then the bolt will actually turn a bit against itself (one part of the straight piece will hinge against the piece with the inner bit at an angle) and the move will be blocked. This is a bit difficult to explain. I also made a video that might be a bit more insightful. I might be offering these to those who cannot get them for themselves if I get enough requests and I can confirm that they are still available for purchase (I might have to order them specially). They cost $20 CAD for a set of 2 plus shipping to your location from Manitoba, Canada (quotes available upon request, but it might take a week to reply with the quote. Rest assured, I will let you know once I get your PM though). As I said, they have to be ordered specially (between 1 week and 1 month wait) and I will wait 1 week from the time of this posting to order, just to make sure that people have time to get their requests in.

The second one is described in Jerry Slocum's "Puzzles Old and New". I went to Home Depot many years ago, got a massive bolt, and made my own with a hacksaw. It took the good part of a night, but it's sitting on my desk right now, and it works as good as ever.

It's one of my favorite non-twisty puzzles.
