This is a strange puzzle I own, I am not sure of its name or origins. Any ideas?

There are thousands of such sliding puzzles in existence, just like there are thousands of 3x3 sticker mods. I wouldn't count on finding the original producer or purpose without some kind of copyright info.

I've got this one. DaMert company made them back in the 90's. There is a China company making cheaper copies of it now. Is there anything written on the back? DaMert has their name on their puzzles. The China company simply says "Made in China"
