Today I attended a puzzle party and obtained this beauty of a puzzle:

I didn't even know it was this puzzle until I posted on the photography group where I was kindly pointed in the direction of among others this page.

I didn't know it was that rare, only 40 made!

Neat!

Solving it.. uhm.. 85 moves.. I think I already made triple that  But that is ok, the fun is in the solve.

I played with this puzzle on DPP1 and it stuck in my head ever since. Now I have one of my own :D

Anyone else have this?

Hahah yeah I kinda sorta somehow figured ;)

I am taking this puzzle with me tomorrow to the one client who loves seeing the different kinds of puzzles and mostly those I make, and see what he says on this one.

Most likely this:  :?:

I didn't realize these were so rare. I got one (or a very similar one, same idea) from cubicdissection.com maybe 5-10 years ago or so, or perhaps I got it at an IPP.

It's a neat puzzle though, from what I remember, solving it is similar to a binary type puzzle except it's tertiary.

It is such a lovely puzzle. I was smitten with it from the moment I saw it :)

Took it to work today to show that client, and he was similarly smitten with it as I was. The mechanism, the looks, the feel.. the everything about it :D

Oh who needs a man when she's got puzzles... ahhhh

(still looking though hehehe, don't let my words fool you ;))

It's a nice puzzle, I also have one. If you are interested in reading about more of that kind (after reading Kevin's post maybe), please have a look at my compendium:

As a side note: I do not own all these puzzles, just a few of them. ;)

That Binary Key II looks really cool! I wish I had one.

Hello n-ary puzzle fans. I was wondering what you think of my binary puzzle, grydlock:

Please see my earlier post: http://twistypuzzles.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=26994

You can play with grydlock online at: http://grydlock.com

The web site has puzzles with increasing difficulty. Puzzle #1 can be solved in 14 moves. Puzzle #10 requires at least 170 moves. Some grydlock puzzles can be made with solutions that follow regular patterns. The ones on the web site do not stick to a regular pattern. The maximum solution length for grydlock puzzles is exponential in the number of sliders.

What do you think? Too easy? Too hard? Any feedback will be appreciated. :)

I can't comment on the difficulty, but that has to be the best use of popsicle sticks I have seen in a long time!

That is what I was thinking too! Makes me want to buy icecream (NOT good for the hiney! )

It looks beautiful! I really wish I was more skilled in woodworking :)

I'm glad you liked it, Darryl and Katten. Now give the web site a try. It's guaranteed to have fewer calories than 5 popsicles! :P
