That seems to be an octahedron extension of a Rainbow Cube.

It is so awesome that it's still hard to believe, even after the video! This will certainly be THE puzzle of the year: for me, it's even better than the coming 7x7x7! Respect and compliments for your genius and craftmanship!

Lee T. I'm curious if you are interested in seeing this puzzle produced? Seeing as Katsuhiko Okamoto has managed to get his Void Cube produced, if I were you I'd be very tempted to contact him. I'm not sure if Gentosha-education is the place that will be producing his Void Cubes or just a retailer that is going to sell them but who ever is producing his Void Cubes might be interested in producing the Holey Megaminx if you were willing to give them a chance.
I for one would think these two puzzles would make a great set and I'll be grabbing a Void Cube as soon at they go up for sale. I'd love to have a Holey Megaminx to go with it someday.
Regardless, great puzzle and thanks for sharing, Carl

Wouldn't that be incredible if it was produced? After seeing that the Void Cube will be mass produced I immediately thought of the Holey Megaminx. wwwmwww wrote: I for one would think these two puzzles would make a great set and I'll be grabbing a Void Cube as soon at they go up for sale. By far it is one of my favorite puzzles of all time and I would love to own one sooner or later...hopefully sooner! - Billy

Where i agree with you taylor, i'd just like to add that the contoured mastermorphix and dangercube can be made by hand, which makes them a little more assessable to the public(granted it takes a true craftsman to make them) the holey megaminx is something that can't be handmade, and could be easier to produce because the stl files are already at hand.

I don't know what it's called, but I would love to see the one in the top left corner of Swordsman Kirby's picture above.

Hello... I contacted Katsuhiko Okamoto and he told me this: Quote: Void Cube was produced by Chronos Co.,Ltd.in Japan. Please negotiate directly with the company. Chronos Co.,Ltd. http://www.chronos.co.jp/http://www.chronos.co.jp/campany.htmlI hope this is useful to others that want to get a puzzle produced. Carl

VERY NICE puzzle O_O RATM Fan wrote: Do you think a 5x5 void cube would be like a 4x4 void cube with only the outer edges or just no centers, or their could be two kinds or 5x5 void cubes. The 5x5x5 with only edges and corners can't work ` the middle edge piece would literally be in mid air during a turn. A 5x5x5 could work with only the centre cubies missing; since there's a small amount of the cubie that would never leave the confines of the cube. I think when you get to a 7x7x7 it would be near-impossible to do this since the centre edge cubie would be so small (relative to the cube) that it would leave the confines of the cube during a spin. So, when you have the middle layer at 45degrees, (unless a very complicated locking mechanism was invented) there would nothing to stop the centre edge piece from being be flicked out sideways. Also.. i'd love to see someone make a 4x4x4 hollows cube

I am dying to see pics of the actual mechanism. Both your holey Megaminx andteh Void cube are racking my brain right now because I can't fathom how they could possibly work

Noah wrote: I don't want to bump that thread, but I have to ask, did that project ever take off? Oh... I really only made that to play around with in POV-Ray. I'm not familiar with 3D printing and I'm pretty sure my POV-Ray files aren't in a format that could be used. But I am now back to playing with the POV-Ray code and I'm hoping to make a few animations. Anyone got some code for solving a 5x5x5 super cube with a 3x3x3 inside? And I'll be happy to share what I have with anyone that may want to try and get this thing 3D printed. Some of the cubies will obviously have to be printed as two pieces and glued together during assembly unless the whole thing could be printed already assembled. And I've noticed the issue with bumping threads here before. I bumped this one in fact and the first post after mine starts off with "Wow, Huge bumb." and I thought I was about to get in trouble. I must confess I'm members on other forums but this one seems to make a much bigger deal out of bumbing threads then the others. Personally if there is already a thread on a tropic I think you are better off posting in that thread then starting a new one even if that means bringing up an old thread, but in this forum I'm not as sure about that. I understand not wanting to bump an old thread just to add another "WOW!!! Great puzzle" comment but I hope its safe to bump threads if there is actually something of value to add to the conversation. Though I guess the "something of value" definition may very from person to person. Carl
