Very nice! I like the silver color. Question though, probably a dumb one - but what material is that you are using to build up the cubies?

Actually, not a dumb question at all! it seems very thick, or a lot thicker than the standard ABS Plastic. it looks very sturdy and perfectly constructed as well. Measurements have to be very precise  .

I love this little cute puzzle a lot and I'll give it a good home because then I'll a start a family of Bump cube(3x3x3 I have and the 2x2x2 cube )I'll pay for it and all of your hard work won't go out the window for nothing.

They're absolutely possible to do. conceptually all you are doing is replacing color with distance from the core which can all be done with the outer layer. There are just a couple of annoying mechanical problems to overcome. For instance, for the 5x5x5, you can't cut more than about 1 or 2mm off of a side, so the entire thing has to be done as an extension. This wouldn't look as good as possible in my opinion because the + and x centers would all be uniform and small compared to the rest of the layers.
I do think that the design of the Olympicube 5 would lend some interesting possibilities to this because of the radial design of the pieces, i.e. different widths of the inner slices.
Wanna get REALLY complex? Make a bump Megaminx

The fit and finish of all of your puzzles is excellent!

A very nice puzzle to look at (and I'm sure, to play with as well). Great puzzle.
Question:
When you glued the ABS-sheet-made cubies to the actual cubies of the mini 2x2x2, did you just cut out a hole from the sheet-made cubies and glue them in. If so, how did you get them to stick with so little area for adhesion (it looks like the sheet cubies are hollow and the only place that you can glue in the side of the cube.)?
Keep up the great work. With all these new bump variations, I'm very tempted to go make my own variation. I doubt I'll have the time though.

the only reason why I havent made this one is the problem of cutting the the normal size corners. very nice build up! smooth work!

Yes, that's the only area for adhesion. I just use good glue: Ruderer L530.
After I made the 8 pieces, building it was similar to my Junior Domino.

0 Directions of bumping = 1 different kinds of pieces. 8 of each.
1 Directions of bumping = 2 different kinds of pieces. 4 of each.
2 Directions of bumping = 4 different kinds of pieces. 2 of each.
3 Directions of bumping = 8 different kinds of pieces. 1 of each.
Interesting if you think about it.
This only applies to a 2x2.

i just wrote out plans for a triply bumped 3x3x3 and i get 4 corner types. im not sure on how interchangeable they are, but heres my results
assume you are bumping by .5 cube widths. assign that .5 cube width to your unit length
3 edge types:
a: 1x1x2 there are 3 of these
b: 1x2x3 there are 6 of these
c: 2x3x3 there are 3 of these
4 corner types:
A: 1x1x1 only one
B: 1x1x3 there are 3 of these
C: 1x3x3 there are 3 of these
D: 3x3x3 only one
a doubly bumped 2x2x2 would have 3 corner types, again im not too sure on how interchangeable these are without rotation and such (can you actualy swap two of them, and rotate both of them into a solved position?)
A: 1x1x2 two of these
B: 1x2x3 four of these
C: 2x3x3 two of these
it seems weird, but plan one out and see for yourself.
btw, it turns out that i was completely wrong, even bumping in 3 directions does not ensure unique pieces. must... build...

The easiest way to ensure unique pieces is to bump all 3 directions a different amount. This simply makes an analogy between amount bumped and a color.

this went almost completely unnoticed when i initially looked i really like your building method. it seems like it would be rather difficult for anything above a 2x2x2, but it is also very elagent
