What are all of the colors on it? and may we see it scrambled? So what algorithms do you have for this already? Whats your fastest and average time on this Gigaminx?

I'll be posting more pics later tonight.

243 handmade pieces...
372 stickers...
6.328x10^245 combinations...
12 months of work...
Just 1 puzzle...
or to put it another way.
Playing with the only Gigaminx in existance... PRICELESS!
This is an amazing puzzle from a skilled craftsman. Thank you for sharing your work with us. I am looking forward to seeing some scrambled and in progress solve pics sometime in the future.
Thanks,
Adam
p.s.
Just curious, how much would you charge to make one of these?

Thats the most combinations for now and here we have below are the other ones that are available right now to buy for a reasonable price.
viewtopic.php?p=24025&highlight=rubiks+zigzag+%2Adarren+grewe#24025
Who is that one guy from Europe that made the 7x7x7 cube? I wonder how many combinations that has compared to this because the 6x6x6 cube only has 1.572 * 10^116.

I haven't tried to solve it yet because, unfortunately, it turns like a bad Alexander's Star. There won't be a time recorded on this for a little while and there probably won't be any speedsolving.

Couldn't agree more
Yes, those stickers are hand cut. I got the vinyl for free from a sign shop. They only asked that I give them some pictures of the finished piece. I think I can live with that.
OH, The central core! Remember a month or two back when somebody found a supply of $5 megaminx knockoffs? Well, I bought 4 and two of them died to make this guy.
I was showing it off today (Just couldn't help myself) and some of my friends came up with the name "Rubik's Death Star". I think it works pretty well.
Finally, you all asked for 'em. Scrambled Pics!
The first is my girlfriend Laura in the middle of scrambling. She's really excited that she could scramble a puzzle that I couldn't solve while just sitting there. She gets a little frustrated when she sets down a scrambled cube and takes her attention off of it for about ... oh 30 seconds and then finds it solved.
The second and third are shots of the same scramble which I have yet to try to solve.

P.S.
How do you get the quotes to say "Whoever Wrote" instead of just saying "quote"?

If you use [quote]tag, you may replace [quote="Whoever"] tag to bold "Whoever".

Here is how you do what you want to do with the Quotes You go to the little icon on the right hand side and click it then it should have the persons message in a quotes for you(there name in 1 quote and a / in the other) and then if you want to type in between the quotes and have it stand out like it is your message you just have to do the same thing again but copy and paste works wonders. I used Jaap's pages on the Megaminx and 5x5x5 to figure this out and found what was overlooked the first time.
The "wing" orientation is determined by its position.
Wings: (60!/2)/(2^60)
This reduces the number of possible combinations to 6.328x10^245

It has been a great adventure solving the mystery of the existence of the Gigaminx.
From now on, I can only focus on other great mysteries, like Atlantis, time travel, aliens, ghosts and women...
Simply, a puzzle out of this world!

Wasn't this already posted? Or did you just start a new thread because of the stickers. Great job, I'm just a little confused.
Maybe you can talk to eMachineShop and get it mass produced. There certainly is a market. not sure how expensive that would run.

Thanks for the clarification...great mod. I really think you should get that massproduced.
So when do you start on the next level of the minxes?

We all be able to buy the puzzle and he get money for collage. How would you break up a 4x4?
The only thing I can think is to put straight cuts through the points of the star dividing the center into pieces. I'm not sure if that would really turn right though. You would certainly have to redo the interior mech.

The 4x4 dodecahedron would be an interesting puzzle.
The 2x2 dodecahedron is the same as the Impossiball.
The 4x4 would not turn on a flat plane like the other dodecahedral puzzles and would require undercutting to get the puzzle to move at all; a little like the edges only cube or simple overlapping cube. It could be done as a buildup from the Gigaminx in much the same way that some 4x4x4 designs have an internal 5x5x5 mechanism. This method would require a Gigaminx, or a modified Megaminx with additional pieces to suppore the outside parts of the puzzle in much the same way that the Rubiks 5x5x5 is constructed (expanded puzzle with tracks for the 2nd and 4th layers.
One step at a time though. I just want to play with a Gigaminx. Virtual or real... Time to get the 3D printer!

You can sell stuff that isn't patented, you're just not protected by someone copying it. Even if he did get a patent, it would be difficult to enforce against an offshore company making knock-offs.

Wouldn't the 4x4x4 dodecahedron resemble a mix (or minx haha) between a Pyraminx Crystal and a regular Megaminx?

As everyone else has said: AWESOME build!!! Great Job! Did you end up painting each piece after sanding or using the native surface? I can not believe you hand cut all those stickers. That looks like a major time sink in itself, but they turned out great. Did you ever try the Micromark silicone?
Are you going to do more solidmodel/stereolith of parts for new builds or try something different? Good luck on your next project.
And for those talking about the 4x4x4 dodecahedron I think it was covered in this thread viewtopic.php?t=4209&start=50
with some good pictures.

WOW!!!
That's the most intimidating puzzle I think I've ever seen. Just look at the size of it, which I didn't fully appreciate until I saw that pic of it being held by your girlfriend.
So what are your plans? Please tell me you are going to try and market it. PLEASE!!! I'd love to get my hands on one.

This is one of the most perfect builds ever (not only twisty-puzzle builds )
But how did you make the stickers? !!!

Yep, all hand cut. Look closely at my avitar and you can see the imperfections.
The last 3 colors were even done without a template and the angles eyeballed (I got good at doing that somewhere along the road)
