This is a Megaminx sticker mod, made accessible to just about everyone with a kit from Olivér's shop. He is offering a 30 colour Megaminx sticker set, called the "30 Color Cutted Megaminx". I used this set to transform an inexpensive ShengShou Megaminx, purchased from the HKNowStore, into a unique new puzzle. Here it is next to a DaYan Megaminx:

The sticker set contains 30 different colours (actually I received 31, plus black and white). Each Megaminx face colour is precision cut five ways to form triangular face sections. Since 60 triangles are required to sticker a puzzle and the set contains at least 150 triangles, there are actually enough stickers to make TWO complete puzzles, plus quite a few spares. According to Olivér, the stickers fit most Megaminx except DaYan. They fit the ShengShou perfectly.

It is NOT necessary to use two of the same colours over an edge, that is just the style that I used. The pictures on Olivér's website are for the Ultimate Megaminx, which has 20 colours. The consistency of the cuts is excellent and this makes it easy to get a perfect match between adjacent sections. I found it helpful to draw pencil lines on the faces to guide placement of the first stickers.

Since this was my first attempt at this type of mod, I started with paper cutouts:

After a few tries, I selected a colour scheme that I liked:

Does the scheme match the scheme you've chosen for the ETRT?

I'll post a side-by-side here when I get the ETRT done (making good progress on it). They won't match exactly because the overall schemes are different, but I use the same method for selecting the three colours around a vertex, so that will be reflected in both puzzles. I'm using a warm/cold scheme on the ETRT. I tested that on the 30 colour Megaminx, but it just didn't look right to me, perhaps due to the small size of the puzzle.

Edge Turning Rhombic Triacontahedron (ETRT) next to the 30 Colour Megaminx. Oliver's stickers on both.

This is cool, and you did a really good job stickering it. I can't imagine being that precise. However, I don't like how there are multiple yellows so close together, it just doesn't look right to me. But that's my opinion. In any case, good job!

Thanks! Those yellows are more distinct shades than they look in the photos, which are processed for web display and have lost some colour range. I typically avoid placing close shades of a colour together, but in this case the shades are distinct enough that it looks good to me.
