HKNowStore have available for pre-order what seems to be a new puzzle. It claims to have an Oskar sticker so I assume it is legitimate.

Looks like it, except with 12 colours instead of the 24 colour scheme Tony chose for his.

I am trying to sort this out with Oskar and Calvin. At the present time I consider it a KO (Edit: See Oskar's post below) since I have not giving permission. However as stated in another thread a while ago because it uses Oskar's mechanism he outranks me in terms of "ownership". This will be updated as soon as we know what's going on. We know that Calvin doesn't intentionally sell KOs so more information is required.

Hi Tony, all,

Thank you for your kind words and clarification. This issue was arranged between Calvin, Uwe and me as soon as we heard about the puzzle. The arrangement is the same as for the Gear Octahedron, Gear Minx and the Gear Pyraminx. That is
-The not-to-be named KO company decided to produce this puzzle without consulting me beforehand, and without establishing contact with Mefferts (I assume).
-Uwe offered me to make the puzzle available to legitimate twisty-puzzle buyers through Mefferts and HKnowStore.
-Uwe pays me the royalty on the puzzles that are sold through this legitimized channel.
I thank Uwe for his generosity to me and to the TP community to make this possible. I am pretty sure that he is losing money on the deal. I am also thankful to Calvin for his help and support in this.

Mmm, I am not particularly happy with this but will accept it.

Since the gears are a single color and tangent to the center, won't their orientation not matter?

That's correct. Unfortunately with this puzzle you can't have conventional style stickering if you want those circles to be part of the solving challenge.
BTW I wish they would call this thing either Gear Change or Gear Rhombic Dodecahedron.

I just received both versions and made an unboxing / demo / explanation video- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wbl_Q543vgQ . These were sent before the new logos were sorted out.

Here is a link to Mefferts' product pages: http://www.mefferts.com/products/details.php?lang=en&category=13&id=857. It says "Gear Change in Circle Stickers Black Body with Oskar Deventer & Tony Fisher’s signature", as it should. Correct puzzle name, correct acknowledgement.
