Hello!

About two months ago I figured it was about time to make the big brother of my 2x4x6..

This was easily the most difficult puzzle I have ever worked on. It just goes to show though, hand modification is definitely not a dying breed.
This puzzle presented every type of difficulty I could imagine whilst building it. I lost hope a few times, but I pulled through!
Thanks for any feedback.

Are the really thin layers stable?

At normal tensioning they weren't, but after giving everything tighter tensions it gains its stability back.

Yes! Be careful if you try to make this though, it is HARD.

How come the axis with 3 layers is so pillowed? could you have got it as slim as traiphums 3x7x7? if not what did he do differently? Im curious thats all :)

Well, both of our puzzles are about as thin, its just that if you look closely at Traiphums' magnificent puzzle, you'll notice that he extends the outward layers so it prevents the pillowing from looking exaggerated.

Just letting people know that I asked Hunter to make this puzzle for me. It was a sort of experimental prototype-ish thing. If anyone wants to see a video of the puzzle it's here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oHjfdwKaEjE

I'm very happy to have it!

I think Sunnwinder got it spot on...

Wow that is really impressive :D
however its not in the shape of a true Rouleaux which is a rounded triangle. I would rather just call it pillowed.

This is a cool puzzle. I love seeing all the new cuboids coming out.

That's not entirely true. There are reuleaux versions of many polygons. This however isn't one of them.

Hey guys! Thanks for the kind words. None of my rouleaux puzzles are truly rouleaux. For the most part I call them rouleauxish but in topics like this I only say just rouleaux for the ease of non English speakers. Its all terminology anyhow 8-)
Thanks
