It looks like they have holes where the cuts intersect, like on the DaYan cubes. Wow, that's really surprising. Hopefully that gives good reverse corner cutting!

The 2x2 core reminds me of the rubik's 4x4 core. I don't know how the last piece will go in.

The center structure of the 3x3x3 is reminiscent of the Verdes center (a flange). I can't tell from that picture if the cuts are cylindrical or conical.

There were more pictures posted in that thread today, but all were of the exterior of the cube. And I have no knowledge of the language to even begin to see where I need to surf to to get a better view.

I think that the 2x2 has already been released. It is available from the Rubik's online store here. It is reviewed by redKB in this video. In that video, he take the puzzle apart starting at 2:45. Back in December, heiowge got a tiled 3x3 from the Rubik's company (see here).

Also, a picture from your earlier link shows the 2x2's internal pieces. They look the same as the pieces in that video by redKB that I mentioned. Just because they look the same doesn't mean that they are the same, I know. But, I don't think that there would be two different types of tiled Rubik's 2x2s. More details will probably come soon, and then we'll know.

Of course I cannot read Japanese, but when it is coming out in Japan and for pre-sale, I wager it'd be weird that someone in the States (is Redkb in the States? Well ok, western country then) has it already. Internals can look very much alike. It would be fun if someone more in the know of the language can tell us what the pages say, because it is being presented as something very new, so.. it confuses me now

Yes, and somebody in this forum already had the new 3x3, I remember a thread where he said he could not open it because of some kind of anti pop mechanism.

Stranger and stranger it becomes.
It would be like someone in Japan saying "Dayan Panshi? New? Man I've got it for months already" while it is being pre-sold elsewhere.
*scratches head* Did the person, that I found the info from, err?
I have asked for more info/clarification in the speedsolving thread.

Dave That is exactly what I was thinking.

The Japan version says "46x46x46mm" and the UK version says "4.5 cm X 4.5 cm X 4.5 cm". I really doubt that one of the companies made a mistake while measuring their cubes.

grigr wrote: rubik's 3*3 v2 - very interest puzzle this puzzle used original/patented V-3 cube design (Verdes not published this mechanism), but with cylindrical and spherical cuts... According to the rules of the Forum-this is a KO-Puzzle? Without more detail is is hard to say. It clearly isn't a direct match of the V-3 in the patents, but the flange is new for Rubik's and brings the Verdes design to mind. As with any potential KO situation I'll of course try to get more detailed pictures and ask what the affected designers think about it. Dave

The pictures show that it is the standard scheme with blue next to white. The US packaged version of the 2x2x2 has been on http://www.rubiks.com for a while now (at a better price but I don't know how much their shipping is) but they don't have the 3x3x3 yet. I assume that eventually these will find their way into stores.

Does anyone know if they will be making higher order versions of these cubes (4x4x4, 5x5x5, etc.) ??
