I wasn't saying "won't be given", I was saying "cannot be given".

I can understand where the unwillingness comes from, just don't understand why. (Now how is that for contradicting myself hehe)

Let me put it this way: if it is being mass produced I wager the patent has already been issued? Then why the secrecy.

I know I am completely unknown in this area, so.. all I am doing is guessing. Forgive my ignorance :)

Patent applications are not published until 12-18 months after they are filed, so I assume grigr is in this pre-publication period.

Very nice puzzle :)

But I'm sick and tired of this guy spamming every youtube puzzle channel trying to advertise himself. Any help preventing that by reporting him as spam ?

Interesting... I've never been through the patent process but this sounds odd. I assume they are somehow published internally to the patent office. If not, when one goes to file a new patent how does the patent officer check that it doesn't violate any of the ones filed in the last 12-18 months? And if it does... what does the officer tell the second applicant? Something along the lines of "Sorry, your application violates a patent that I can't show you for x-months." That would seem very odd if true...

The examination process does not begin until long (sometimes years) after publication, by which time any earlier patent applications or other prior art will also be published.
