This is a puzzle I designed at the request of Katja. There's very little new here, it's just like the Helicopter Skewb: it jumbles like crazy. Katja wanted something even more extreme, so this puzzle has been unbandaged similar to the Curvy Copter Plus. Watch the video by Brandon Enright hereYou can buy the Unbandaged Helicopter Skewb from my shop for $160 (€150). The regular Helicopter Skewb is also still available for a new, lower price of $150 (€140). The following pictures are of a tumble polished copy by Brandon Enright. Attachment:

Every $0££!n% time I decide on my next Shapeways puzzle and start saving, another great puzzle comes along. I'm going to have to stop visiting this forum until I actually buy it.

How did you get it so black? I always thought it would come out a grey color.

Darren Grewe wrote: How did you get it so black? I always thought it would come out a grey color. Actually I didn't do such a great job of dyeing this. Click on an image to get the full resolution and then look at the tips of the triangles and you'll see that they're a slightly lighter reddish color. I needed to boil them for longer. I noticed the poor dyeing during assembly but by that point I didn't want to go back and dye them again because of the work involved and they'd lose more shine. I re-use a dye bath. I don't know what the concentration is now because I've died so many puzzles with it but I've put about 10 Rit dye packs in it. Parts boiled in it for ~2 hours it get very black no matter how smooth they started out going in. The only disadvantage to boiling this long is that the parts lose some of their reflective shine that the porcelain spheres give them. Edit: here is an edited and highly exaggerated example of what I mean: Attachment:

Amazing! I've always been a fan of the helicopter cube variants. Could you do the same thing with a heli+2x2?

I think Eric has a good 2x2x2 + HC design but I'm not sure if it's shop-ready or not. Maybe he'll unbandage it and sell it
