Since this uses a Megaminx-style 12-axis system, could a version be made that uses an existing puzzle spider as a base? Perhaps this would save on costs, and/or make a slightly smaller puzzle?
Theoretically this could be done, but I think it would take so much modification that it would end up being more costly than the Shapeways print. I think it would also result in a larger puzzle. If you took away the large "spikes", the remainder of the puzzle would be much smaller than a Megaminx.

A rare breed indeed - a fully functional siamese puzzle.
This is one aspect of the puzzle that I really like, and that makes it much more confusing to solve. Interestingly, the two halves can change positions relative to one another. For example, the light blue "underside" can be located under any one of the three "hot side" vertices.

I would love to see your puzzles mass-produced, they are simple in design but complex and elegant.
Thanks Gus, that's high praise indeed! I'd love to see some of them produced too. Anyone?
