This is the first full size Golden Cube I have constructed since Uwe Meffert mass produced the black, white, gold, silver and copper versions a few years ago. In addition it is the first ever coloured one I have made. To make, I mixed dye with the plastic during casting. This means there was no room for tweaking afterwards since any further work done shows up as blemishes. If it looks familiar you may have seen the picture of Uwe's blue factory made prototype here. My Blue Golden Cube is a direct descendant of my 1999 originals and was made from 2nd generation masters. They were modified slightly and improved during the transfer to silicone rubber and polyurethane resin from remeltable rubber and polyester resin. The puzzle is different to the mass produced version since the cutting lines are not in the exact same place (see video for comparison) so Cubesmith stickers would not fit. As with my 1999 Golden Cubes there is one piece with no apparent correct orientation. This was unfortunately lost on the mass produced version which was a great shame because it makes the puzzle harder and is a very important part of my original "design". I have just started an auction for it and will add a post to Market Place shortly with some extra relevant information.
