Hi Everyone, I'm pleased to present to you the Jumble Trap Unbandaged puzzle. As you might guess by the name, this new puzzle is a variant of my previous Jumble Trap puzzle. The new cuts slice the large edges of the Jumble Trap into two smaller pieces. These cuts aren't immediately accessible, but when twisted into the right positions they allow turns that were blocked on the previous Jumble Trap puzzle. After seeing the Jumble Trap, DKwan asked if such slices would be accessible, and as you can see the answer is "yes". Here is a video of the Jumble Trap Unbandaged. You can buy Jumble Trap Unbandaged in my Shapeways Shop. Here are the pictures of the Jumble Trap Unbandaged: Attachment:

Absolutely awesome! I was really wanting to see this puzzle, I have been wanted to buy the Jumble Trap puzzle, but have been fearful it would become too bandaged too quickly. Luckily that isn't a problem any more.

Brilliant David! I really want to buy another of your puzzles, but you keep making them too fast. Does the un-bandaging actually make it more or less difficult to solve?

Hi Dave,
Great puzzle! Have you ever considered removing the two "end corners" of the Jumble Trap Unbandaged, removing the eight pieces that hold those end corners, and turning the eight remaining end pieces into regular corners? Try it!

Excellent job David! Looks like it turned out great =) Gus wrote: Does the un-bandaging actually make it more or less difficult to solve? I believe that since the original edge pieces are identical to one of the new split-edge pieces, they can be swapped. I would think this should make the solve much harder. I don't know if it makes the unjumbling easier or harder, but Cubedude76 has mentioned that unjumbling the original puzzle isn't that hard. Try it! This would make those corners similar to how you designed your big boulder puzzle, correct?

Try it! If I were to do as you suggest (and enlarge the face centers to accommodate the extra 3-way corners) we might be at risk of an Astroid Attack!

Wow any other of your impressive puzzles . It would be so cool, that one of your puzzle would be mass produced .

Can I assume it shares its measurements and weight with the first Jumble Trap?

This seems somewhat related to Eric Vergo's Rhomdo / Unbandaged Rhomdo. I jumbled my copy and so far I haven't been able to unjumble it. Edit: to clarify, I can't unjumble the Unbandaged Rhomdo (yet).
Have you scrambled this and tried to unjumble it yet?
Also, the "cuts (that) aren't immediately accessible" are "stored cuts".

bmenrigh wrote: Have you scrambled this and tried to unjumble it yet? No, I haven't done a full scramble on the puzzle yet. I've got several others in line ahead of this one. Guess I've made too many puzzles recently
