After nearly a year, we have our second product, the classical version of tuttminx( http://www.verypuzzle.com/index.php?rou ... duct_id=85) ready. Classical Tuttminx is our product name while Tuttminx is its actual name as we all know. Thanks to the original inventor Lee Tutt, his generous permission made it possible. Attachment:

Here are some features about it. - Smooth turning quality - 43 sticker colors, you have plenties of choices to sticker the tuttminx - Every external face is wholly molded, say goodbye to split edge syndrome - No hidden trap: unlike our first tuttminx, this tuttminx keeps its classical favor and doesn't fudge or jumble - Light weight: only 360g for this monster with 516(plastic) + 64(washer, screw) = 580 parts! Now it is available at VeryPuzzle.com and you are welcome to evaluate it. Note that currently we have but only black body in favor of most puzzlers. For other versions, please state tuned. [EDIT 2012/3/3 White Tuttminx update]The white classical tuttminx is ready to go. While we originally planned a release in Feb., things just seemed to slow us down a bit. Anyway, here's the pictures. It will be available from VeryPuzzle.com as well as HKNowStore. Thank you for your patience and support! Recovered: Attachment:

Also we would like to add a few more information on this product 1. We've got back to the vinyl cutter with a newly developed optimized cutting algorithm, the calabash shaped supporting material will be effortless to be removed. Note that old stickers(mold cut) in stock will still be used, so be careful when removing the supporting material. 2. The following picture will help you when breaking into the classical tuttminx. Inappropriate try may break parts. Anyway, if you broke parts, refer to our warranty plan. Internal Structure Attachment:

Thanks for your support. Enjoy! Leslie

I like this one better than the original, the straight cuts just make it better looking. But $65, plus you have to sticker it yourself Maybe I'll get it for Christmas (hint hint)

I don't know which one I like better! Edit: From the first picture, I wonder if a "Tuttchop" is possible, using the same cut pattern...

So, when is someone going to do a version which can turn along these axes? Attachment:

And of course the other equivalent axes parallel to the other faces

Or in this version there is no problems from mixing up the symmetric and asymmetric edges? I agree, no matter if no mixing is possible, I would like a white one looking like the original

Very nice!!! As mentioned in this link ( viewtopic.php?f=14&t=21388), Lee Tutt designed his original Tuttminx such that the pentagonal faces of the Tuttminx would have the same dimensions as the faces of the Megaminx. The first Tuttminx version by Leslie Le is smaller. What is the size of this new â€classical’ version of the Tuttminx? Geert

Thank you guys for support! @excalvin "The Classical Tuttminx comes as assembly and 2 sets of stickers." Just to clarify. The tuttminx comes with 1 full set of stickers with 43 different colors, each color containing one pantagon and one hexagon. Anyway, stickering two tuttminxes using one set of stickers is perfectly OK. @Oliver Of course you are welcomed! Actually I have just uploaded the sticker file, you can download it here http://www.verypuzzle.com/index.php?route=information/information&information_id=9. We made the stickers somewhat larger than normal just to balance the gap and sharp edges of moving parts. But stickers will not be scratched by moving parts if they are not too off-place. Yes it is designed not to fudge or jumble. @Konrad The package contains a tuttminx before stickering, a full set of stickers containing 43 different colors and a piece of data sheet. @juanan They have significant difference and physically there's no chance to install them if interchanged. @Jeffery Yes it is a fully funtional spherical tuttminx. @zackz115 I'll make a video later. Thanks for the point. @Geert The size of this tuttminx is slightly larger than previous one. The penta-penta distance for the new one is approximately 107mm. @RubixFreakGreg We have tried small stickers and we think it is too loose. Theoretically the moving parts have sharp edges, when we round it down, gaps grow. So we have got a balance here, not to make it loose and not to scratch stckers. Anyway, there are enough space to put it right. Just leave a visible gap on sharp edges, i.e., sticker pieces close to sharp corners(I mean the sharp corner of plastic part rather than sharp corners of where stikers being put), will do the job. Stickering one face at a time isn't a good idea this time. Considering that it is your very special tuttminx, why not give it a few hours? Leslie

Like I mentioned above in an edit, I propose the name "Tuttchop". Although, I think it would be a better puzzle if the shallow cuts did not exist (like how face turns on a Chopasaurus are impossible). Anyway it's basically a Pentultimate mechanism, only with four layers instead of two.

Without the "cap" cuts it would have 4 layers - 2 on each side. Not sure where you got 5 from.

Leslie,
My congratulations once again. In my view straight cuts look much better. Does it mean the hexagonal layers rotate by 120 degrees if the puzzle does not jumble and fudge? It is probably clear to everybody in the Community but I am quite new in this “Puzzle World” and not everything is fully obvious for me yet.

Iwona I find it a bit difficult to explain. Actually the normal tuttminx should work and only work when hexagonal faces are turned 120*n degrees. A 60 degree turn of the hexagonal face will block all neighbored faces. This is how Classical Tuttminx works. @Sigurd, Actually I don't have a megaminx But I'll have one soon. Stay tuned.

Is it the same size as the original? Can you measure the edge length or both a pentagonal and hexagonal face please? Thank you!
I gotto say that I hope your next puzzle wont be yet another Tuttminx. My fingers are crossed for a Petaminx or higher order Octahedron (corner turn) or Icosahedron (corner turn).

The solid I start with both tuttminxes are exactly the same, with penta-penta distance 104.7mm and hex-hex distance 102mm and edge length 22.5mm. In the classical tuttminx, however, there are layers to be stacked so it could appear slightly larger and measured statistics from physical model will be indefinitely larger.

Yesterday I stickered mine (392 stickers done one by one. Good training for the 324 on the Multidodecahedron ) I think, as a puzzle it is better than Leslie's first Tuttminx. As we call the new one the Classical Tuttminx, we can call the first just Leslies's Tuttminx. The Classical does not have the danger of unwanted fudging and turns a bit better. In my opinion, Leslie's is a piece of artwork and its beauty cannot be beaten. The curved lines on Leslie's are very much appealing to me, while the Classical looks a bit more austere. As you can see I have chosen the same colour scheme for both. I'm glad to have both masterpieces.

Me to i really line mine but the only complain is the stickers, somme of the stickers were not cutted "to the perfection" and wile removing the extra, the stickers were already chipping... But the puzzle is very good quality tough.

Thank you guys for your feedback, positive or negative, I've been waiting for it and open to it.
@Drake Unlike our first batch of stickers for curved tuttminx which was cut by industrial vinyl cutter then hand cut into small blocks, this time we utilized cutting mold to provide a stable and neat quality. It seems that this also brought a stable flaw. We'll address this issue in our further productions.
Please take caution to those small triangles on the pentagonal face, some of them may be a little attached.
@Volitar Prime Due the fact that there are too many colors with relatively limited quantity, our provider can't keep reservations of the full set of color for us, some colors were discontinued. The solution to this problem seems vague but we'll try to keep a stable set of colors.
@Konrad Thank you for compliments and your picture is very beautiful!
Thank you for your support!

I ordered my classical tuttminx 11/25 and still to package! I have tried contacting verypuzzle, but was told just to wait and see.... P.S. I was told the longest waiting time for them was just over 40 days, so high score?

It's entirely possible the Christmas Shipping got in the way of your order arriving on time. Places such as China can be bogged down in shipping during this time of year.

So I finally got my Classical Tuttminx. Amazing puzzle!! It turns unlike many other puzzles of its complexity. The stickering though....lets not talk about that.
I've stickered it and have nearly solved it, but I have one face left. It is a hexagonal side. Will that pose a problem. Is the pentagonal side easier? Input? Help? lol
Thanks, Zack

If you solve it with just a pentagonal face left, I believe you can use megaminx algorithms to solve the last pieces (I do not own one, but I do not see any reason these would not work). For a hexagonal face, however, I believe you would have to find different algorithms (slightly different, but different nonetheless).
Hope it helps.
Chris

Chris I've read this a few places, but honestly according to my understanding it is different, as there are more restrictions with the 180 turns on the hexagonal faces, which also affects solving the final pentagonal face. Thats why I believe it will not work just like a megaminx. Zack

Depending on the algorithms used, Megaminx algorithms can still be used, but the 72 degree pentagonal Megaminx turns are substituted with 120 degree hexagonal Tuttminx turns.

I see above a Classical Tuttminx in white, but is not yet selling in white. Any idea when that will be available. I'd love one.

The Classical Tuttminx is a beautiful puzzle! I just saw it online while I was looking for a black Teraminx... EDIT: so I went ahead and ordered it. Can someone please compare the solving difficulty of the Tuttminx to the familiar dodecahedron puzzles, such as the Megaminx, Gigaminx or Teraminx?

Just received my Tuttminx, and must say this is an extremely nice puzzle! I'm not much of a speed-cuber, but I was very impressed with how smoothly the puzzle turns right out of the box. Took me forever to put all the stickers on though - and I didn't get them on there very straight either! :-P
As others have mentioned here, I thought it could be solved similar to a Megaminx, but since some sides won't line up at certain turns it seems a bit different. I'm going to try Luke's advice and see if I can get that to work.
Thanks for creating this beautiful puzzle, Leslie! :-)

Great timing So I've just added some bits on white classical tuttminx together with some useful information in the original post. Actually the pictures were taken just two hours ago. Thank you for your support!
