Hello Twisty Puzzlers!

I would like to present the new and very much improved Master Helicopter Cube.

This is the second version of the puzzle I presented earlier this summer. It is very stable and turns beautifully.



The best thing about this puzzle is that it jumbles on BOTH LAYERS. This means that after the turn in the picture above, either layer, or even both layers, can be turned in a jumbling move.



...and again...


Now, this puzzle could jumble quite a bit, if it weren't for all the overhang bandaging. This prevents anything more than 3 or 4 jumbling turns at a time from taking place.


Here is one more picture with a V5, which is approximately the same size.


This puzzle will DEFINITELY be at MIT Nationals!

is this not actually a master curvy copter? because it seems to have exposed bits that shoudl be hidden?

Sure, but it's pretty much the same thing except for the centers. I'm going to keep the name as the Master Helicopter unless someone speaks up to say that they have an actual Master Helicopter in the works (one with flat cuts).

It looks stunning! The cuts on each face remind me of a spider's web. Those have lots of lines
But apart from the looks it will be a magnificent puzzle.
I am looking forward to see the improvements in the video.

First higher order version of a jumbling puzzle?

I think I'm going to puke when I see this at Nationals.

Hi,

how much can this puzzle actually jumble?

ie does it jumble simply to switch pieces that cannot be switched otherwise, or can it be put into such a jumbled state that you'de get a headache trying to solve it? (I've tried Helicopter jumbling before, it's actually REALLY hard to jumble into one of those truly messed up states.)

great job on creating the world's first higher order jumbling Twisty puzzle! Now if only we had this as a Rhombic Dodecahedron....:3

Oh I should have mentioned! It's fully printed in White Strong and Flexible (kind of like me! ). The first one I made was cast, but it was no good at all. This may be the end of my casting puzzles. I'll bring a mold or 2 to the meetup at MIT to get some feedback about them.

Great work! It's truly a masterpiece. I've been anxiously waiting for a higher order Helicopter Cube to be made, and this absolutely outdid my expectations. Have you attempted a solve yet? I for one couldn't even imagine solving such a beastly puzzle.

Also, I did read your first post saying this is a V2, but since I for some reason missed the V1, this was completely new to me.

I haven't gotten up the courage to scramble this thing. I can't take this apart, since the caps are glued in (they'll snap into place for the final iteration). It's going to be very, very hard.

Great work Eitan and Eric, this is one of my favorite puzzles of all time now! I cannot wait for the video.

P.S. I do not see my hexagonal domino in your collection picture!

Just to be clear, the design was all done by Eitan, I just made suggestions and threw ideas around. It is totally Pisquared's puzzle

I don't have my full collection on me at the moment. I do have all of my own custom puzzles, so I figured I'd take a picture now and do a better one when I get the chance.

50 bucks says I can learn how to solve a normal helicopter cube and then solve this in a week. Hey, I'd spend 20 hours in a row for 7 days trying to solve any puzzle for 50 bucks

LOL, I can't think of a puzzle matt wouldn't be able to figure out a solution. He's the one who figured out (without having one) that the FTI's could jumble, and the exact angle they would jumble at.

Amazing! Looks like it would be a very fun puzzle to solve and even just to look at . With turning like that if i had this puzzle i don't think it would ever leave my hands
