Here's a brief history lession for those who don't know or have forgotten about it. During the last year of school so do everyone have to make a project of some kind related to what we study. Since I did study graphics and layout so did I get the idea to make a puzzle of some kind that has not been made before. So back in Agust 2009 did I start a topic with a poll on what I should make. See this topic. The final idea that is now made did however come from mr Geert Hellings who gave me he challenge to make a gigaminx icosahedron. This puzzle could not be made using a normal gigaminx so everything had to be made from scratch. The only thing that's the same on my gigaminx and this puzzle is the chinaminx core.. Geert was kind enough to not just come uo with the idea but allso offer me SLS masters to cast the puzzle from. The puzzle is named DLI (DualLayerIcosahedron) because of it's look and function. The molds were made with moldmax 30 and it was casted with smoothcast 300. The stickers were made from my schools totally awesome machine. In goes white vinyl, out commes cut stickers in any color you want, all on the same sheet The funniest part of this project was that I got the stickers the day before deadline, and I finished stickering it and edit the epic video on that night. I'm just in time you know I have mentioned the puzzle a few times before. here, here, here and here for example. Since I've graduated the 4th of June so do I know what grade I got on it. I got a MVG on the swedish scale, which is the same as A or in this case A+ And I don't know if this was because of the project or not, but I got a check on ca $200 for beeing a creative student Going to the DCD budgetAnyways You probably haven't read the above so I'll post some pictures now. Very nice and clean looking. Just to clarify for myself... is this a higher order version of the icosaminx?

Wow, amazing puzzle. I envy you for being able to design a puzzle for school work. Edit: you really cast this with sls masters? I thought sls was not suitable for casting.

Which corner? Because in the top left corner, there is a heater, and in the top right corner there is what looks like a brief case.

I remember that topic. This is what you made? Looks amazing! I didn't even realize it was based on a gigaminx.

Fantastic puzzle, truly amazing. My guess is that it's an elephant and that you're an elephant farmer. Alex

Congratulations on your graduation and congratulations on bringing this fantastic puzzle to life. I checked and noticed that the first parts were already made on November 1st last year. So, it is a long but very successful and rewarding project.
Really excellent work!!!!!
Geert
PS.: You mentioned ‘going to the DCD budget’, so I really hope that you will be able to join the DCD this year (announcements will be made soon) and show it there.

The last picture in your PDF shows a wicker wastebasket in the corner.
So...your other hobby is rattan basket weaving?

Long over due puzzle. I had plans for this several years ago. Simply too time consuming to make as a transformation though so I gave up. Great to see a version finally made. Nice work.

Isint this puzzle the third order icosohedron minx? (1. Icasominx 2. Dogic 3. Dli)
If this is so wouldn't it have a different name than dual layer icasominx because this name would be reserved for the dogic?
