This my version of Aleh's 2x2x2 Circle Cube. His was based around an Eastsheen 4x4x4, mine is made with a 3D printed mechanism. Because of this, it is only a little bit larger than an Eastsheen 2x2x2.

Rotation is nice and smooth though the circles have some "slack" to them occasionally causing lockups. But it isn't bad, I'm quite satisfied with how it turned out. The puzzle is very stable.

You can watch a video.

I can't see the video. That link is directed to a song.

btw, are all the the inner circle locked with the other side? Like, is it true that the top inner pieces are locked to the bottom outer pieces and the bottom inner pieces are locked with the top out pieces? I understand that Aleh's version does not work in this way.

The yellow-green-orange corner has its circle pieces fused to it. The layer with that block in it will always have the circle turn with it and the opposite layer will have the circle fixed.

:D Is that a joke, or do you not realise that April 1st = Rick Roll day?

I love this and the circle 3x3x3. :D

Only the prototype (now mine!) was based on the EastSheen 4x4x4, his subsequent builds have been on the Rubik's mechanism and have a slightly smaller circle.

We're veering off topic now. Aleh's puzzle concept is great and worthy of mass production but I don't want this thread to turn into a petition. Thanks.

Just to be sure I know what you said, the yellow green orange corner's circle pieces will always be in place, right?

Yup. It's printed as one block but for aesthetics I've designed it with a little gap.

Because yesterday was April Fools' Day and I haven't had the time to make a proper video.

I know it must have been asked and answerd before, but

Would it be possible for all the faces to have locked circles on this puzzle?

None of the circles can be turned independently as is. When you make a turn one of the circles turns with the turn, the other stays fixed.
If you locked them all to their respective faces you'd just end up with a 2x2x2.
