I can't see the video. It says my region is blocked. Anyone know how I can see it? Still, this is a very clever idea and is an excellent mod. Alex

Here is the babelfish translation: Quote: This is my recent Rubik's cube mod work, announces most early in the MF8 forum, I knew that some people once the gang reprinted this forum. Some people thought that this is a KO product, I think am very surprised, I thought that this is only an individual mod work, but is not the so-called KO product. Why won't I understand English to arrive at here? Because I am a Rubik's cube mod amateur, but here is the Rubik's cube mod amateur's heaven! Now this work already completed, I share my mod work very happily with everybody. The transformation way is very simple, looked that the picture knew Great looking mod!

This mod is AMAZING! fantastic work done by the builder at splitting the edges and all the center pieces to just the right angle so they work!
FANTASTIC!

Amazing video. As I thought, there seem to be none of the center-layer issues that the V-cube 6 had. This is a great design. It would be cool if this guy made a deal with Verdes to use this technique (4x4x4 style slotted ball) on all even cubes... I think this design could lead to very high quality 6x6x6 cubes as well.

I would have never of thought that this could have been made by ripping apart, well, god knows how many v7s. Keep up the good work!

Incredibly clever way of building an 8x8, and could this method be used to build even bigger cubes? I also love the textured stickers and the logo.

Kevster11 wrote: is it just me or has this been posted already =/ It was and it was locked... partly because I stuck my foot in my mouth. After mentioning Tony Fisher in this post: http://twistypuzzles.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=189411#p189411I've been afriad to say anything in this thread or Tony's 11x11x11 thread. They are great puzzles and mods by great builders but I can see the other side of the fence too and I feel just a hint of guilt about enjoying them so. I just don't know... personally if I was Verdes I would be happy to sell anyone four of my V-7x7x7's if they wanted to make one of these. Ingenious... it really is... Carl

I think he means using a 4x4 core and V5 pieces to make a non-clicking 6x6.
I don't think the 4x4 core would fit inside the 5x5 pieces no matter how much you trimmed them down without affecting the mechanism.

Question for the puzzle builders:
If this technique were to be used on even higher-order cubes, would the torque on the four center pieces on each side increase to the point structural instability?
Basically, if someone were to make a 16-cube (an outrageous size, but will suffice for the theoretical argument) this way, would the four center pieces on each side be more likely to break then on a 4-cube? If so, what could be done to alleviate?

Wow that is awesome! It could be considered a mod, but might as well be called a 30% new mechanism.
