Something similar was discussed an some 3x3x4 thread, I suppose this is the first time this mod is done as I am the only one over here with no patiente for anything more elaborated than this

Sand down the top and bottom layers and you will have a cubic 3x3x5. (I held off posting this for a while to protect the original maker, but I suppose it is obvious now)

So, I guess this was made from a c4y 334?

My guess is he just exposed the hidden pieces and didn't use the little bandaging piece
That'd work and would be a relatively easy procedure.

I agree! I am also a lazy man and want a 3x3x5

To all of you asking how it's done: This really is easy (though this build is very clean). All it took was sanding down the middle layer pieces to expose the hidden layer, and then swapping out the rounded pieces with normal 3x3 parts.

That really is easy...

TomZ is right , all you have to do is to get a 3x3x4, cut off the parts of the middle layers that cover the hidden layer, sand to round the cuts, and then replace all the pieces of the hidden layer with pieces of a DIY 3x3. When you unarm the 3x3x4 you will know clearly where to cut. Just 1 or 2 hours of work (that is 4 hours for me)

Finally, I strongly recomend to use a 3x3 of same color than 3x3x4

I used a type B 3x3 bought I dont remember where, 2 years ago, and it fits perfect, but color is not exactly the same. But stickers hide that you 'd better try black color...
