(In case you're wondering why I'm posting two topics right after the other, it's to help clarify things for someone - this way I can just link to this, instead of referencing half a topic.)

Some background to this puzzle: it was inspired by the Slothouber-Graatsma puzzle, which is a packing problem where the goal is to put six 2x2x1 blocks into a 3x3x3 box. When solved, the pieces of this cube make up the pattern of the solution to the packing problem.

I made both 4-color and 8-color variations of this puzzle, using DIY cubes from Cube4You. Also, with the pieces I had left over, I made a few more of each, which I will post in a bit. Watch the Marketplace if you'd like one!

File comment: The 8-color version, and the original design. Interestingly, this is not the position the cube was in when I assembled it, but it is solved nonetheless!

File comment: 8-color version, checkered. You can't checker the 4-color one, because it looks just like it did before!

...And here are the extras.

Neat idea and that checkerboard looks non-trivial.

Thanks for the comments!

MarkSS, what do you mean by the checkerboarding being "non-trivial"?

It also promotes buying the DIY 10-packs from Cube4you. :)

Tile Shuffles are even easier than sticker variants. But with the appropriate material the results can look better than many other mods.
