Well not quite. The middle center of a super gigaminx would have visible orientations. On this puzzle they do not. I want to play this puzzle on some applet/simulation as i for sure never will see this puzzle in real life

Ahh!! You're right, I spoke too quickly without thinking enough  As for applet/simulation I'm working on it this summer
Would you prefer the outer layers to be thin like Drew's or the same size as the inner layers like Tony's photshopped one? (DragonCuber linked to it) 8-)

Peace,

Im guessing he is thinking of a Circle Cube ---> Megaminx.

A megaminxical version of the Circle Cube.

I don't think it is fair to compare a Cross Minx to a Circle Minx. The solving experience is much different due to the circles not being able to turn on their own - you are much more limited in what you can do.

I think it is a fair comparison, though. If one were to play with the cross-minx with only 2nd layer turns (no outer face turns), it would behave like a circle minx.

It is very difficult puzzle for any solver!
Likely it is not difficult creating for you

A circle minx would have to be built from a gigaminx.

Looks like fun, though!

This might work, but for it to be anything other than a novelty, the first thing you'll want to do is design a gigaminx that works like a rubik's 444 cube. Can that be done?

EDIT:

Ack! Nevermind that statement; it seems I need some sleep or something...

In theory yes, it can be done. However i would venture to say it is impossible to make the faces totally flat and uniform. There would have to be a break or some clever cuts on the faces (much like dave's kilominx) to allow for room for the surfaces.

   Everytime.......

You know it's just becuase the puzzle you create are such an inspiration right, Drew?

We see you bring these masterpieces to life and we all immediately delve into the realm of possibilities you are unlocking with every puzzle you build. Your creations are catalysts for an ever-expanding thirst to discover and build beautiful puzzle that you should consider one of the most sincere forms of flattery!!!! right after imitation, that is

However, since it does seem to happen to you EVERY time, I will get back on topic.
Do you ever plan on selling these?
Have you solved it yourself?

Peace,
Matt Galla

Drew, i'm sorry to be rude, but the discussion we're having is extremely closely related to your cross minx and by forbidding posters to stray even a little bit from a given topic, you're quashing potential creativity and future puzzles built. I know it's not exactly what you're intending for this topic to be about, but it's okay to stray from topics slightly as long as there is some semblance of the original topic in the new one being discussed. I for one don't think a whole new thread is warranted to talk about a circleminx since it's all just speculation right now, and since its so closely related to your cross-minx it seems like this thread is a good fit.

Besides, you may get a good idea from slight topic changes within a thread. I have on multiple occasions.

Then create a topic in PUZZLE BUILDING.... seems like the place it should be?

For three people to talk about it? That's an unneeded thread. But neither of us are going to change our positions, i can already tell. So we'll drop it then. At least i will. It's not worth continuing if neither side sees the other's.
