This puzzle Turns smoother than butter. it never jams or falls apart. I is light and is somewhat hollow so you can hear that nice sound when you turn it.

This puzzle is not too large to hold, nor too heavy. But it is solid. Turns like silk, cuts corners, and never jams on me! (unless red hot chili peppers is playing in the background) I realize its just another Higher order, but its something that HAD to be done. I'm not so sure its terribly difficult to solve, but its fun to hold, turn and look at.

Wow! I absolutely love the Elite Skewb and its slightly pillowed sides. Although I would have wanted to see it in the traditional Skewb color scheme, but I am simply being picky. All in all, both puzzle look absolutely stunning. :D

-Grant

P.S. Now that you have made the Royal Tetrahedron, is it possible we might also see a Royal Skewb?

Wow. Just freakin' wow.

Those puzzles are amazing! a 9x9 tetrahedron! My jaw is on the floor.

BTW, Drew- I would suggest you split this up into two separate threads. Each of these puzzles is amazing, and deserves its own discussions. Not to mention it's much easier to find when you're browsing the forums... Just a suggestion.

Good job on both of these puzzles, You have 2 9x9 puzzles made and the 9x9 hasn't even been made yet ^_^

But yeah I agree, make a big tutorial on 3d Cadding =D Please?

Good Job Andrew :D

Very nice! I love the way you presented these. But I think your elite skewb should have red next to orange. Definitely.

Everyone, Thank you so much for all the kind comments on the puzzles.

Btw, Red is NOT next to orange because DLitwin will hurt me if I do that again!

I'm not that awesome, I'm just finishing up the puzzle builds that use my existing mechanism. it really takes a lot more skill to make something as awesome as the helicopter cube, or DRD. But thanks anyways guys, I'm glad you like them!

Drew,
you continue to amaze us all with your designs and your rapidity in bringing them to life...
I do hope that some of these new designs will appear sometime for sale (the advanced skewb puzzles
and praxis cube especially!)

Cheers,

Is Uwe Meffert interested in mass producing higher order skewbs? I think he should consider it, seeing as this look way to well constructed and stable

well, I can't say we didn't see these coming, but seeing them is incredible. The dimensions on the elite skewbs pieces are so weird, and it has such a shallow pillowing!
But I don't know what I find more incredible: the puzzles design, the awesomeness of such puzzles, or your tremendous effort and skill.

But it's the V-cube mechanism, he would run into patent problems.

Not entirely True. When I asked Verdes (Through Pantazis) about producing the Tetrahedrons and Minxes (V-Family if you will) He remarked that he has no interest to mass produce those, and we are free to do so on our own. He knows the minxes use the modified V-cube technology, so it seems to me he just wants to deal with NxNxN cubes, which is pretty silly, since this is pretty much a worthy investment.

now just to get the money....

His patent is probably not valid for anything except the V2 through 11, though. Patent lawyers tend to insist that everything you want to be covered has to be mentioned specifically in the patent. After all, he *could* have described the V6 and 7 and simply said "this of course also covers the higher and lower orders of these puzzles", but he was apparently forced to put in full drawings for each and every one.

Drewseph: Putting the "ow" in "wow" since 2007.

Seriously, did you notice how many brains you just broke, and how many jaws just hit the floor? You're gonna have to put some warnings up when you get around to making a Royal Skewb or whatever else you're planning.

(Of course I'm amazed as well! I can't even begin to mentally formulate a solution for these things.)

All part of Drewseph's plot to take over the world I assume... maybe?

Maybe I'm just pulling your leg. perhaps? I love cats. Mine are so dog like. Khoury loves to play fetch. Not sure if I ever mentioned that

Elite Tetrahedron V3 has to wait, just like the keychain teraminx.
Anyway Drew: OH MY GOD OH MY GOD OH MY GOD! These are so awesome! Especially the Elite Skewb. What I find interesting is that it more and more looks similar to the tetrahedron. A fact that is not obvious on first sight for the skewb and tetrahedron, nor for the master skewb and master tetrahedron. But from the elite point on, it really strikes that the puzzles have or might have similarities, even if you don't know for a fact. I am not saying a layman can and I do already know, but I think it becomes visible somehow.
I love the Elite Skewb more but I always say that, so it has become obvious already that I don't fancy pillowed tetrahedrons. Pillowing makes this one shape unpleasing I find. Still your tetrahedrons are AWESOME.

I have been blinded by your awesomeness...
Is your awesomeness for sale? I have some people I wouldn't mind blinding with it ...

But in all seriousness, how on earth do you get these puzzles out so fast?! Will these be brought to the Boston meet-up?

Wow.

I forgot to mention that these puzzles that you keep designing and casting are phenominal!

Could you use a slightly modified reduction to solve both of these puzzles, then solve like a pyraminx/skewb?
(I know it's not a pyraminx, but the 3-layered version could be solved like one.)
