Yes, the plans for the much-discussed Fish Cube have finally come to fruition. (from here) viewtopic.php?f=9&t=10358Name provided by BEEEDY. (I hope your version is coming along well!) I figured out how to prevent turning of faces with 3 or fewer "pyramids" without bandaging or just hoping for the best. So, here is the all-new Fish Cube: VIDEEYO! Attachment:

And here's how I decided to block the movement of faces with 3 or fewer pyramids: Attachment:
File comment: These small panels attached to the square parts prevent turning by blocking against the adjacent faces' undersides.

The glued-on pieces of plastic (on the LEFT) block turning. More images shown below. So what do you think about this one?

Smashy, great build! Reminds me of the 2 layer Fisher Cube that I first saw from Thomas. A really intresting puzzle. Again, an awesome build! Alex

Awesome build!
But you should color it to get rid of those white streaks.

That's my camera's fault. There aren't any white streaks on the puzzle; the flash glares really badly off of the rounded edges. The whole puzzle is black and no modeling clay was used - just ABS sheet plastic. And to prove it, a VIDEO!

It's really great - the pictures really do not do it justice, I suggest everyone watch the video.
Well done

Very nice.
Perhaps pictures should be taken in daylight, so that no flash is needed.

Ah, you beat me to it! Looks REALLY great, though. I'd love to play with it. Maybe I should stop being lazy and build one for myself...

Well, I am considering selling it, if you're interested, but I'm not sure how much it would go for on eBay. BEEEDY, good luck with your build - I thought mine was a goner for a few days, but there's always a way to make it work. Thanks for the compliments guys, and to all those curious about the name, BEEEDY came up with it.

Yay for smashy!
Now all I gotta do is figure out how to made that core, use it to make a 2x4x4, then use that to make a 3x3x1. Brilliant!

I think I point out a similarity between two puzzles maybe no one notice before.

Both of the puzzles are essentially adding twistalbe layers to the faces of a 2x2x2. The difference is the number of faces on which layers are attached. Four for Fish Cube, and six for Rhombiminix.

Hi there! Yes, this is pretty much the same as the Rhombiminx but there is a functional difference - the Rhombiminx is never restricted in movement, while this puzzle's outer faces can only turn at certain times. (four outer face pyramids on the face to be turned).

(four outer face pyramids on the face to be turned). The same is true for the rhombiminx, really, it's just that the rhombiminx always has four corners on each face
