I knew this had to be coming sometime soon. I'm looking forward to a Rhombic Dodecahedron version.

Yes, Adam designed it. I am hoping to do the Rhombic next. Pictures now posted above in first post

This is truly a beauty! Great job!
My mod will have to wait a few weeks to make an appearance since my mediocre puzzle will get lost in this puzzle's glamor!

That´s incredible! Is this the first ever NxNxK mod ever next to the cubic 3x3x5? Does it shapeshift like a 3x3x3 or doesn´t it like a cubic 3x3x5?

It doesn't shape shift. It is the same size as a normal cube, there are no extended parts. The 6 points are the caps and they pop right off allowing you to adjust the tension screws or take the puzzle apart if you really want to. I am thinking of selling this puzzle since I want to try a Rhombic version. I have had several offers even before I posted it so I might have it up for sale

And seeing you back with a puzzle is a breath of fresh air. I am still around. I check out the site about 1 a week, but don't spend the same time like I use too. Too many other things going on. Still collecting though. It is great to see Sandy back too along with another moderator.

Fantastic work you dark horse! Correct me if I am wrong but this could also be called a bandaged Professor Trajber's Octahedron

Fantastic design and well made.
Could this be done without the little triangular pieces in the top and bottom layers?

Looks great!
Visually, the pattern looks like a hybrid between Anthony Greenhill's 3x3x3 octahedron and a Trajber's.

And a fisher's cube a bandaged master Fisher's cube. It would be pretty pointless describing a Fisher Cube as a bandaged master Fisher Cube even if it is technically correct. However Since Dodd's Octahedron has five rows of rotation in one dimension I think my observation is very valid.

On this Octahedron some 90 degrees-twists can be performed which were not possible on a real (?) 3x3x5.

The little triangles make it very interesting when you make a 90 degree twist. The top layer no longer turns as the bigger center triangle from the middle layer blocks the rotation. The little triangle then moves down a layer. Therefore when this cube gets very mixed up it becomes quite challenging.

I can see the top diamond becoming a triangle on both sides and having a 3x3x7 octahedron, but then you'd just have corners and that's boring. Is a 7x7x7 octahedron possible? Well, nevermind, of course it's possible, but would it be too delicate to make? I think that would make for some other very interesting mods... or a 4x4x4 octahedron? Is there a 4x4x4 octahedron?

Mr.Twisty wrote: The little triangles make it very interesting when you make a 90 degree twist. Oh yes. I've just come back to have a closer look at this. Am I correct in saying that on the "top" and "bottom" layers, the cubies can twisty around, (as they are only half width). This means that the little triangle and trapezium inside each face could actually twist around and become non planar with the other faces. There would be some very pretty shape-shifting patterns that could be made. Is this correct? Suddenly I want to really try this out!

Very beautiful and clean puzzle. Perhaps sometime in the next few decades I will be able to buy a couple of 3D printed puzzles of my own.
