and please answer two questions:

1. Has this thing ever been built before? This mod seemed a bit to obvious to me.
2. What would be an appropriate name for this thing? I would prefer a name based on naming conventions of geometric shapes.

It looks very ninja-esque in the last pic. The sides look like 5-bladed shurikens.

I don't know how you're going to shorten "Pentagonal Trapezohedron" into a concise puzzle name
It's also known as a "Pentagonal Deltohedron".
Maybe "Deltominx" or "Deltonova" ?

Is there any bandaging of the hidden surfaces?

Hmmmm... for some reason it reminds to me the "menhirs" carried by... Obelix!!!

Although already in use (confusingly, for a Dodecahedron) by the new Japanese version of the Skewb Ultimate I think "Decaminx" isn't such a bad name for this puzzle.

@sharpyman69: I assume you don't use a chinese Megaminx but one with not so sharp edges. In that case: Go ahead with your project and then name it "Obelinx"

Perhaps by analogy with spheroid we could call it a Minxoid. Unfortunately I believe "Skewboid" is already taken.

Or you could use the fun name for this type of shape, 'trapezohedron', and call it a Trapezominx

May that be the reason why this specific citizen of Metropolis hasn't answered yet...
Anyway: "Decaminx" will serve the purpose well enough.

weird...i had a dream about one of those like a month ago, it made me think...and i wanted to build one like that, and name it the,"Pentagonal Dipyrimid."

then i had the idea of not just extending two opposing sides, but all 12 sides! i thaught of the name the,"Mega Star." and the same thing applys to the gigaminx,"Giga Star," and so forth.

What about calling it a "Pointyminx"?

wouldn't extending it in this manner on all sides simply make a larger megaminx?

I think doing so it would have the same shape as the Polaris puzzle, only being much larger.

I think you are right. The shape's name is "stellated dodecahedron".

how about detraminx? and truncate the points a little so its not so big and dangerous? when its all jumbled it kinda looks like a lotus blossom. lotus is such a cool name. better than its latin name.
