I am very excited to present my first shapeways puzzle, PentaMix! Before I go in to the details on the puzzle, I'd like to thank Ben for his in depth emails helping me learn Solidworks, I appreciate it man. And thanks to Oliver for the AMAZING stickers!

PentaMix is a face-turning pentagonal prism. The top and bottom layers can perform 36 degree turns instead of the regular 72 degrees. You could call PentaMix a bandaged decagonal prism, because the equatorial layer has 5 axis.

The puzzle has an edge length of 57mm and is 160g.

Purchase details here

Now here's some (I'll edit them (or take better ones) in the future) photos and here's a video!

Wow! I guess this is the super octo cube version of the pentagonal prism, with only one axis that does the special moves, right? But either way, this is a fantastically designed puzzle for a first. And thanks to Ben for helping this become a reality.

What is the special move you're referring to? All the turns in the video look straightforward.

In the second pic it shows the puzzle in "midturn". However, in the next pic, It shows another turn before the previous turn was completed. This kind of shapeshifting would be impossible on a normal pentagonal prism.

I guess I misinterpreted the term "special." I would consider that a normal move for this puzzle. Perhaps "shapeshifting move" if you must. When I think of "special moves" I think of the Crazy 2x3x3.

At first I was offended, as I thought you were implying my design wasn't anything special. But I agree with how your defining special turns; because I think the extra turns this puzzle is able to do would be shapeshifting turns, but the extra turns on Oskar's Illegal cube would be special because there aren't any extra cuts to give a hint to these extra turns.

Has anyone else noticed the missing yellow sticker? But other than that, this looks fantastic!

He explains that in one of the videos. It's not a missing sticker. It's a missing piece due to a Shapeways misprint.

Jack, I just realized I haven't expressed how much I love this puzzle. It looks awesome! Especially now that I've seen it fully scrambled. This looks really fun!

Just to be clear it wasn't shapeways' fault! Was my fault and the problem has been fixed now.

Wow! What a first puzzle design!!
It looks great and I would definitely consider that as a "special" move!

Look forward to see what else you have in mind!!
