I usually slip under the radar and not talk about my collection or my collecting habits, but maybe I'll let the cat out of the bag this once I mainly collect vintage twisty puzzles, and anything newer I go with non-KOs.

Great stuff. But what's the reason for why you have so many Holey Megaminxes?! Are you going to sell them at some point.

Regarding the custom bandaged cube:
is that one bandaged like the one from Mefferts?

I don't normally think to buy puzzles for their future value, I just like to have one or perhaps two (one to play with) for my collection. But, like Ben, I have a number of the Holey Megaminx (white and black).

I predict the Holey Megaminx will be the Dogic of the next decade: It is a great puzzle that was complex to produce so I doubt it will be made again. Look back at this post ten years from now and we'll see if I am right

It was somewhat of a funny story. I was extremely excited about getting some, and was telling my dad about how "limited" they will be from the announcements from Meffert's. In class, I saw they were finally available and bought two black 12-colors and a black 6-color Holey Megaminx. At work, my dad saw the same thing and did me a favor by buying me the exact same order.

Now, our PayPal account is more of a family account, but all the funds that are in it are from my eBay sales. So in the end, I was the one paying for all the Megaminxes



Yes, the bandaged cube is the same bandaging as the one from Mefferts. When I made it, they've been long out of stock and it was killing me as to how it would scramble!



I normally don't buy puzzles in hopes of them appreciating in value, but I do stop and consider if the puzzle will hold its value if I were to sell it in a few years when buying older/more collectible pieces. This is why, unfortunately, there is a lack of custom puzzles in my collection.

I also agree with Dave that the Holey Megaminx will be the next Dogic. As far as I can tell, the supply of them is drying up!

Nice collection. There's a lot of range in there. I see you have a Spectra, a puzzle I've seen only rarely. What exactly is the purpose of that puzzle?

I do a lot of yard saling and thrift stores, and I always pick them up Rubik's Revolutions I run into them. I paid under $1 for each of the Revolutions on that shelf! Back in high school, I think I had only 7-8 of them, and a few friends and I would do mini-competitions and try to see how far we can get with 2+ revolutions. Don't get me wrong, I still think that those things are an abomination - but I think they're fun from a non-puzzle aspect

Lately, I've been thinking about doing some sticker modding and turning a few of them into 2x2x2, 4x4x4 and 5x5x5 revolutions

The objective of the Spectra puzzle is similar to the Circus Puzzler/Drive Ya Nuts where you have to match colors of the discs, but with a few extra restrictions.

Jaap's page explains the objective much better than I can:
The aim is to arrange the discs so that on every pair of adjacent discs the touching sectors match in colour, and also that the left sector of the first disc matches the right sector of the last disc. Not only that, but all eight colours must occur as such matching pairs of sectors.

-Mercury Maze Puzzle - Got it at a yard sale for 25 cents, this one is quite intriguing and I absolutely love it! Should have bought one long ago!
-2 Matchbox Rubik's Magics, got them both on eBay. Both were supposed to be new and unopened, but one was actually already opened.
-Rubik's Double Tangram - new and sealed - finally found this on eBay, they're practically impossible to find for some reason, especially new and sealed

The boxed Rubik's classics, the dash of wooden boxes, the neat odds and ends. It's just a really classy collection. Thank you for continuing to provide pictures of it.

I didn't open the quad cube, I actually bought one that was used!

I actually owned 7 Touch Cubes at one point, thanks to Best Buy's liquidation on eBay. They sold off store returns that work and new ones on eBay starting at $.99 with no reserve. Because they listed a bunch at once over a period of time, supply went way up and they could have been had for $10-20 each. I sold one to a friend, gave a new one to a good friend as a gift, sold one to a TP member, and my parents each have one at their offices.

I think that it is a Trajber's octahedron. You can see the 3x3x3 one here in the Museum. It could be the 4x4x4 one though. Here's that one in the Museum.


Though you've probably remembered the name by now, it's a Hoberman Brain Twist.

Actually, I thought you actually opened your puzzles until I noticed an awful lot of sealed ones. So I guess the Quad Cube might still be in the box.

It's been a long time since my last update. I haven't been buying very much these past few months, but I did manage to add to my collection:

-"New" Magic Dodecahedron/Hungarian Supernova with insert containing Dr. Christoph Bandelow's contact information.
-A case of 12 sealed vintage puzzles, which puzzle it is will be kept a secret
-4 or 5 more sets of Speed Stacks cups and timers, taking my timer collection up to 12 or 13. I really should start selling some of them.

New semester means little disposable income for me, but I'll still be fighting in the background for the rarities!
