Just got this puzzle, I thought it was really cool. The price is great- US $26.66, but the shipping is almost as much. Anyway, it's a stainless steel cube. It has domino markings on some sides, and confetti on others. Opposite sides are opposite shading (one side is polished steel with matted dots, the opposite is matted steel with polished dots). It comes with a matching base, and just looks awesome. I doubt it's stainless steel throughout because it's heavy, but not *that* heavy. I have another metal cube that's twice the weight. It's probably just plated, but I don't want to take it apart to verify.

Well it may be plated, but perhaps it is just very thin in the walls of each piece... How well does it turn? I imagine it locks up a fair bit, and no amount of sanding could reduce friction.

Turning isn't bad at all, but it's definitely not a speed cube. You're not gonna be cutting corners with it.

I got such a one yesterday, too.
It is made of plastic, only instead of stickers it has stainless steels plates nicely inlaid.
Weighs only 162 grams.
Looks very nice on its stand in the office and it takes more time to solve than a regular coloured cube
Mine turns well and it doesn't hook at all due to the plastic, which seems good quality overall to me.

The Chinese alloy one below has only the mechanism in plastic, just like the copper plated one

which turn rather badly. They are made of chromed steel.

The stainless steel ones with leather stickers turn rather good, but they are very heavy

Is it laser printed on its surface?

Georges- I also have that chinese alloy clube. That's the one I was comparing this one to. It turns pretty good too, and is twice the weight of the stainless steel one.

traiphum- How can one tell? If I had to guess, I'd say it was screen printed or painted. I don't feel any laser grooves.

This is beautiful. If I find some way to get money, I will definitely buy one.
