I recently checked ebay for the first time in a while and I've noticed a bunch of cheap Skewb Diamonds up there. However none of them seem to be the original version sold by Mefferts. Can anyone tell me if the Meffert's versions are still considered rare?

Out of the game, but not completely.

Yes they are, and those are called the Mohazi Diamond, Check out Cubeforyou. Also these are considered okay to buy (not a KO) because Mefferts is showing no signs of producing them again.

Out of curiosity, I have one of the mohzi diamonds, and I was surprised at how big it was when I got it... Were the original skewb diamonds that size?

Yup.

Almost exactly the same.

I measure 3 inches along an edge for my original Meffert's Skewb Diamond.

Was it wrong of me to buy the Mohzi Diamond? For some reason, after waiting years for Mefferts to rerelease the Skewb Diamond, I broke down and bought the knockoff. It's a good puzzle, but not the great clicky mechanism like the Meffert's Skewb. I still feel guilty about buying it, so much that I vowed to destroy it it I ever get a real one from Mefferts  I mean, they're just puzzles, right???

The fact that it exists shows that there is a demand for it, that Mefferts is not supplying
