I said Dino, because I could sell it and buy three original Dogics for the price of it. :D

Wow, that's a tough one... :P

Well, if we're talking original puzzles, I'd probably want a dogic, since you can make/print/cast a dino on your own.

Then again, the dino would sell for a pretty penny...

Mine is for Dogic. It still sells for a good price, and i think the solving would be worth the lower resale price :)

I've seen origional dino cubes on ebay before, but never a dogic, so I'd have to say dogic.

Reading this prompted me to wonder what's inside the Dogic; I'd never disassembled mine before. So I started loosening a screw... big mistake! All of a sudden, wham, the top third falls apart, millions of little tiny pieces everywhere. I had no idea this thing was so complicated inside. For some reason it never struck me as a particularly interesting puzzle; I may have to revise my assessment. Meantime, it looks like reassembling it will prove to be a pretty interesting puzzle. :-)

Easily the Dogic. Why? Because:

1. I can't solve it
2. I've always wanted one
3. I've never seen one in person

Dogic:
1. They're no longer produced and can't be easily made unlike the dino cube
2. It's hard to solve and actually provides a challenge.
3. It's FUN!!!!!!!!!!!

Ideally, I'd buy the Dogic, then make a Dino Cube out of a rainbow cube.

If it was an original Dino Cube, I'd like to think I'd sell it, buy a dogic with the money and have a lot left over :) I'd prefer the challenge of the Dogic than the Dino. I don't think the Dino would look as impressive to non-cubers either.

Definitely the Dogic. You can always buy/make a Dino replica. Nobody builds a Dogic.

Will easily give a Dogic for an original Dino in box. Four Dogics for a set of four boxed Dino.

Aleksey, you scoundrel... :)

All things being equal I'd take the dogic for all of the reasons stated above.

As far as solving though, I think the Dogic is simpler than what a lot of people think it is, primarily because they don't own one. Most people should be able to almost solve it intuitively, and maybe use a simple swapping algorithm to finish it. However it is really visually striking compared to the Dino Cube.

Poor Dino Cube. I give it so little respect and so little consideration yet I'd love to own an original.

The Dogic is visually striking, but to me, it is rather unaesthetic. The Dino has a purity of design.

The Dogic isn't hard to solve. The face centers on the 12-color Dogic are solved identically to a megaminx's corners, and the corners are easily permuted. The 10-color Dogic does not require any face-center solutions, only corner permutations, although the latter is slightly harder than on the 12-color because each circle of corners don't have the same color---but not that much harder.

Four months ago they were numerous at Ebay - for 111 euros/piece with cardboard box, but today this stock seems sold.

Dino cube for me. I have an original and all of the Meffert's variations. Go figure

We want what we don't have so this post is heavily biased by existing ownership of puzzles. (or at least it is in my case) I'm still looking for that container truck!

I voted for Dogic because first of all, one just sold for over 200 on eBay. and anyone can make a dino out of a rainbow anyhow. this also prompts me to wonder, as I have neither dino or rainbow, what is the skill comparison of dino vs. Rainbow?

Rainbow VS Dino: not really any different. It is like comparing the megaminx to the holey megaminx.

Ignoring the value, I don't find the dogic that attactive (visually). I would go with the dino.

From a collector's standpoint i would go with the dino because they are the epitome of rarity. But the speedsolver part of me wants a dogic really bad right now especially because of how much i love the quality of everything Meffert's has produced.

That must be Meffert's. My original Dogic is easier to turn than Meffert's.

I have two Meffert's Dogics; the 12-color one is quite stiff to turn, but the 10-color is easier, although still not smooth. I assume they are the same core with different spring adjustments.

Pictures, please! I have yet to see a confirmation of such a story, but every so often we hear them. Heck, I even did my own Anti-April Fools hoax about it.

What I have found is this puzzle wasn't really available much outside of collector's circles, which means the chance it shows up at any random yard sale is pretty much nil.

So be the first to show this can actually happen! Give us the story behind it, where did you friend find it? Is it yours now?

Dave :)

Exactly. Photos can actually make the topic quite amusing, but the lack of them can only make things confusing.
Example here.
