A couple days ago I was visiting my sister out of town. We went to the garage to see something and she pointed out a glass display case just begging to be used. It was our dad and step-mother's case, and had bounced around the family when dad died in 2005, until simply being stored at my sister's when no one wanted it any more.

Now those of you that know me know I claim to be a solver, not a collector. Part of the rationale I use when denying that I am a collector is that I do not have my puzzles on display. They are all in boxes in the closet.

When I saw this beautiful old display case, you know I was visualizing it full of puzzles. So when I got back to my mother-in-law's that night I told my wife about it—we would need to stop at my sister's on our way home the next day to pick it up. And that we did. It is now full and ready to share.

Well, as you can see, it didn't turn out exactly as I visualized, but I can honestly say that I am happy the way it turned out. And needless to say, my wife is very pleased with it.

That is great.
Now, take them all apart and see if you can solve them.

I don't think I'll be taking them apart or twisting them. Best to leave those puzzles on display!

Beautiful cabinet!

What a waste of space putting glass in it! You need to remove the glass and put it in boxes in a cupboard and then display your puzzles! You know you want to join us as a solving collector!

Well, I'd say a compromise is in order, perhaps she can have it in exchange that you can display your puzzles in this:

The advantage is that it's much bigger on the inside.. so you can get all your puzzles in there! :D

Ah, a measely three thousand dollars?! Yeah maybe I'll just keep my puzzles in the drawer for now.

Also, having just watched the 50th anniversary for the third time, this cabinet calls to me very strongly.

I have a glass cabinet that was inherited from my father-in-law to be. Emma used it for ornaments (as any good wife-to-be would) but she kindly allocated the top shelf for me.

Sorry about the quality of the photo I took it a while ago and the lighting isnt very good, Ill take another picture when I get home from work from further back if anyone is interested.

The mirror back makes it look like I have more cubes than I actually have :D
