Wayne, maybe you should consider a new host for the message board. This one has so much downtime. Sometimes it says "Network 54 is under maintenance" or sometimes there is no reply from server at all.

Perhaps you should use Yahoo! Clubs, like the speedsolving club: http://clubs.yahoo.com/clubs/speedsolvingrubikscube
Yahoo doesn't seem to have much downtime, since its such a big company

What does everyone else think?

Yeah, this one is having a few problems lately. I think that is due to the upgrading process that they have been working on lately.

I might consider another board sometime but really when you think about it, this really isn't a high volume board. It's really just for us guys. And Yahoo would probably be my last choice in the world because:

A) They are big (like you said), and they have devoured so many other sites along the internet and utterly ruined then (http://www.sold.com.au is top example). Sold is now difficult to navigate and slow and cumbersome.

B) Yahoo boards are ugly and hard to understand. I'd hate to become 'part' of Yahoo.

C) I think that's all :)

Actually, if I ever get proper hosting, I'll design my own board in ASP. Also, I can now get the board site sucked. But it's a HUGE archive. But if anyone is interested in getting it, I'll soon post the software to download and the settings to use.

Wayne

This site works VERY reliably for me, and I check it several times per week. Why should it be great for me but lousy for others? Perhaps it has a time-out that is snagging some people. If that is all it is, perhaps the host could increase the time-out setting.

Please don't switch to any service that is going to sell our email addresses. I am sick to death of spam.

I did have C...

C) You must sign up before you can post on Yahoo (email lists for sale anyone?... I can smell the spam from here...)

With Network54, you can be anonymous if you should wish - no signup.

As the title reads, this board is at times not really favourable but then again, I never liked Yahoo, that site simply gives me a personal feeling of amateurism and the layout doesn't really appeal, well, this is just my 2cents :)
So, any board or stay with this would be fine but no Yahoo if possible!
Cheers and a HNY 2002!

I won't move from Network54 unless they go down forever or start charging.
