I got their newsletter. The Calendar Cube layout for the stickers is now available--not great, the old one was better. Anyone up to making a PDF of the classic?

What exactly do you not like about the new calendar stickers in the PDF file? I printed it out in color (on paper, not stickers) and to me, it looks like the old design and layout.

The new design includes a year, which dates the puzzle. Because of this, the display only uses two of the three rows, with the topmost left blank. The old style used day on top, month in center, day below. The main reason the calendar cubes on eBay still command high prices is that they're perpetual. Based on the new design, you'll have to start all over on January 1, 2004. Also, I'm not too fond of the font they used.

I know the layout is only for paper stickers, which may or may not last that long anyway, but still--if a different version that echoes the classic design could be done in color, I'd be all for it.

Having looked at the image of the English version of the Perpetual Calendar Cube in my museum and comparing it to the printout from Acrobat, I see the difference. However, I guess if you wanted the old version you could buy one on eBay.

This version is a reminder of the past with an updated twist to it.

However I will see what I can do to generate a PDF file using PageMaker to layout the design and Acrobat Distiller to make the Acrobat file.

I don't have an English version of the Calendar Cube on hand so I will have to acquire (at least temporarily) one to get the exact layout of the stickers, so that I can reproduce the font and layout. Anyone care to let me borrow one?

This is the "real" layout. I've done my own modifcations on it for a cheap custom (using mutlicolored alphabet stickers) so that numbers and letters are consolidated, leaving fewer cubies with one or two blanks.

The newsletter that I received by email says that one of the upcoming releases is a Japanese Rubik's Revenge 4x4x4. What is the difference? I would assume just the box that is comes in. The puzzle itself isn't any different is it?

Although I am not certain, I believe that several (different) Calendar Cubes have been made in the past in the following countries: United Kingdom, USA (ITC), Japan (apparently also in English characters), Italy, France, Germany, Netherlands,…..
