Hi Friends,

after a long time I add one Puzzle to the simulator. It's the 5x5x5 from Traiphum.
It's a very interesting puzzle. Thanks Traiphum !
Because I'm not able to get this puzzle :( I programmed it to my simulator.
It was difficult to understand my own program after this time.

Much fun with this. Much fun with the other included puzzles, circle cubes, cuboids, quarter-cube etc.

For programmers:
I add the source-code for the complete simulator. The program is independent from other java libraries because it uses a own graphics library with BSP trees.
Many mathematics formulas are included.

Cube 2.0 is the upgrade from Cube 1.2

It includes the puzzles from version 1.2 , too.

A better version , I think.

Version 2.1 changes

The outer layer is turnable if a smaller piece is in this layer. I don't know how the original 5x5x5 from Traiphum works. But I think, this variation is much better.

There are more possibilities for turning. The internal bandaging is less.

The sequence r E r' E' makes this:

This is not possible with the version Cube 2.0

It's not a programming bug. It's a change of construction. ( The white and yellow inner pieces have the halfe height)

I didn't realize your simulated handled jumbling. Neat! Do you "snap" pieces to a position or does floating point error creep in the more turns that are made? Also, how did you do the overhang bandaging collision detection? I guess I could look into the source to answer these questions but hearing your take would probably be better :D .

my english is not good enough to understand it exactly.

There is no collision detecting in the program. The program uses "planes", infinite planar area. A face is turnable if the plane doesn't cut other objects. Each object (the class Kpr) is shrunken with a difference smaller than 1 pixel, so no floating error arises.
For the helicopter cube I store the angles separate to make the jumbling turns.
Your named "snap fuction" is only a calculation with the angle. E.G. a cube allows turns 2*PI / 4. A megaminx 2 * PI / 5. But it's necessary to use double instead of float !

I hope you are able to understand this explanation.

The simulator is easy enough. A video tutorial is not necessary I think.

I have all your "cube" versions, probably you already deserved some appreciation. Sorry.

I did't played so much with them though, because I'm missing some "replay" or "save" or "enter moves" feature, that would render such prog awesome.

Good work

My first simulator "yaps" has an input field.

Cube is a simulator where the puzzle is free from position and rotation.
Some problems:
The whole puzzle is rotated 180 ° then imput an "R" . Result -> the left face rotate.
Next problem the "notation"

For every puzzle a different notation. Each puzzler has different preferences.
Gelatinbrain or Bo Hu's simulators are better and have a different concept. I'm only hobby - programmer.
No input field -> no (notation) conflicts with users ;)

All these problems are solveable , but a lot of work. If all this are included I must begin a totaly new program. It's not a professional program. It is what it is.

Now I will make a rest with programming and spend my time for solving puzzles again.

Cheers,
Andrea

Thanks for showing us how to down load it and run it. The video was stupid easy(No offense taken I hope) for me to follow it. Thank God it work. They usually don't work from just reading the instructions.

If someone could please make me a stupid video on how to do Gelatinbrain and Bo Hu's simulators that would be awesome.

Hey Guys
I solved my Traiphum 5x5x5 shape changeable V-1 with the simulator.
A very interesting solve. I used a reduction method. It's a mix of AI/camouflage cube , a 5x5x5 and a 3x3x2. It's a little bit harder than the 3x4x5. But not too hard.

Cheers,
Andrea

Little BUMP (my excuse is a 15 days vacation :) and I did not have much time before it either)

Hi Andrea,

your program deserves certainly more recognition than the number of posts show so far.
I admire your programming skills! :D

As a side note:
I did some Java programming 15 years ago, but as a software development manager I did not have much time for programming. (In earlier days I did a lot of C programming for UNIX operating system development.)

Maybe, my bump helps that others are encouraged to download and try your program.

All the best to your future programming and puzzling projects!

Konrad :)

P.S. As of today your program got downloaded 100 times! Not so bad, right?
