Has anybody gotten their hands to a cubic, or a black, or a cubic AND black V-cube 4? I still see only the white, pillowed version in the various shops (I may be missing something though)

I have got directly from Verdes
- a white pillowed (I made a mistake when ordering it, I prefer black)
- a flat black
I can bring both with me when we two and the PAW come together. :)

I've got a flat white V4, shipped directly from Verdes. Waited so I could get a full set of flat white 2-6. :)

Do you mean that there are discount coupons that can be entered at checkout?

Nope.. they automatically take some off. Just put something in the cart, you can see what happens :)

here is what I got in the mail:

Dear friends and valued customers,

Another year has passed since we started our journey in the cubic puzzle games space and what a year this was. Our fifth anniversary in the markets finds us with a complete product range from 2 layered to 7 layered cubes with the introduction of the V-CUBE 4 this year. We also received multiple awards for our company and products while last but definitely not least, the Guinness World Record for most 3x3 cubes in an hour was broken with our cubes at our booth in the recent Festival des Jeux in Cannes.

To celebrate all of the above and to say an big thank you to all our fans who have been supporting us through this journey, we are happy to give a 15% discount to all our products offered through our web-store.

This discount applies to all products including the collection sets which are already heavily discounted, thus giving you the perfect chance to get all the cubes you ever desired for an amazing price. The offer is effective from now and till the end of June.

We hope that you take great delight in these news. Make sure that you stay tuned with us on our Facebook page and the upcoming newsletters as we are already preparing very exciting things for you in the coming months!

Warm regards,

The V-CUBE™ Team

Yeah i have seen :) Well, i cold not resist so i ordered a flat black V-cube 4, a flat black V-cube 3, and a black pillowed V-cube 2.

And by mistake I have them shipped home, not to my office. My wife would have noticed anyway….

Hahaha you could always mail Verdes ;)

But yep.. she'd know by the filled pockets with cubes ;)

You'll like the v4. Needs some breaking in in the beginning, but it is my main go-to cube. I became the fastest Dutch female on the 4x4 at comp this past weekend using this cube

This one corner cuts way better than the other brand and feels more stable. You won't regret it.

Just duck when you get home to avoid the swing ;)

Oh I was lucky. She told me "Roberto, I have to confess i found some nice deals on Limango for some beautiful shoes, don't be angry." me: "Oh how can I hold a grudge against you when I have my own weaknesses…" "new cubes?" "Yeah, directly form Verdes, but they had a nice 15% discount" She: "Well you sort of deserved that, also, I did not know how to tell you, but Leonardo was playing with your [KO] 4x4 and, well, it just exploded, the six axis thing in the middle broke…" and all went well. Phew. (also, the core of that [KO] was locking all the time, despite my attempts to fix it, so it's ok)

Notes: 1. My wife knows Verdes innovations because she once got me the 5x5, 6x6 and 7x7 black kit as a present after I went to the hospital. That was the beginning of my collection of cubes. 2. Leonardo is my 3 year old son.

Congratulations! I know the V-Cube 4 already, more or less, since I have the 4b. I really like the smooth movement, it's my favorite cube despite being (i) white, and (ii) pillowed. I am not into speedcubing, but I like smooth cubes, they give me a nice feeling.

As you see above, i do not really have reasons to regret, nor to be worried ;-)

Another thing is exploding. My head. One day or the other I will try to understand logistics (see attached pic).

I guess they decided Munich was too close and you needed another day of anticipation??

That thing is moving so fast that it seems like the two delivery guys are tossing it back and forth, scanning it as they go hahaha

This tells me that UPS logistics is very efficient in bringing a pallet of packages from one plane to the other.

Now, I know already that all imports into the german market by UPS go through Cologne. (They also process extra-EU merchandise there.) One would expect that packages to Munich could be offloaded in Munich, but that would require opening and reassembling a pallet - more time consuming. Hence, it is apparently less expensive to just shuffle everything in Cologne. And this way it makes more sense - they are on average faster this way. Still, it is baffling.

It is sort of nice to see how our own puzzles travel around the world (PAW reference intentional).

I just love tracking numbers like that.. to follow every minute and then to finally get that puzzle.. *nod*

I love my 4x4, it took some tinkering with the springs though (I got me the DIY kit with three sets of stiffnesses). Started out with the hardest ones, tensions WAYYY too tight so I put the lightest ones in and worked my way back up.

Now the hardest ones are in there again WITH two washers underneath. It's crazy the way this cube breaks in. A tip: My cube doesn't like Lubix or traxxas like lubes at all. That was a drama, had to take it all apart again and clean all the lube off it.

I broke it in bare, and after three weeks my ordered Maru lube arrived. Two drops of Maru inside, one in the outer layer, one on the inner wing things to help the 2x2 moves so to speak, and this thing turns like a dream. :)

For me, I cannot fathom why people use the KO brand, this turns sooo much better. :D

Yes this is my experience with the V-cube 4b. It breaks in great: I think this is due to the fact that the plastic is actually a very smooth AND very hard type, but there is initially a layer of production material - a kind of encrustation - that easily wears off. AND it does not like thick silicon based lubes! Just a drop of Lubix just made it move like it had been dipped in honey! I had to disassemble it and clean. Just some simple silicone spray or Mary lube: Just a bit - and it's a charm.

Now, I will have to poll Oliver Nagy about availability of 4b stickers again. The stickers on the 4b are really worn out - see pic.

I have put Cubesmith textured tiles on mine, no chipping, nothing. :)

Do you mean normal 4x4x4 tiles or has Cubesmith some for pillowed 4x4x4s.

I saw Roberto's cube yesterday and you are right with this
We both agreed that Cubesmith tiles are necessary. :)
Could you post a picture of yours?

I have the cubic 4x4 as I do competitions with mine. :)

http://cubesmith.com/4x4x4tiles.htm
The ones I have on my cube are from the 4x4x4 Textured Tiles Standard Set with Light Orange, and then I purchased the Light Green Textured Tile along with that as it is easier for me to distinguish than the darker green the standard set comes with.

Someone at comp called them half-brights. I guess, I wouldn't know

Here are two pics; one shows the texture and one has been taken straight from the top (click them for larger images):

Image Image

These you can see in the picture have been on my cube since.. hmm.. I think a week or so after the cubic shapes came out. Quite a while in any case, and the cube has been used a lot :)

You could ask Cubesmith if they want to make them for the pillowed, or you can make your own when you get the sheets: http://cubesmith.com/uncut_tiles.htm

Thanks for the reply!
Roberto and I, we both got the pillowed white one.
For the black and flat version I have still spare tiles (I have Cubesmith tiles on all my big V-Cubes.)

You're welcome :)

I fell in love with the pillowed one as well, however, having to spend funds SOMEWHAT wisely (trust me I am capable of spending them stupidly   ) so I can get more different things, I could not bring myself to buy it, even WITH the discount.
