Hello all. After looking at Timur's Gear HM Tetrahedron, I suddenly thought of a way to apply the same concept to the cube (different from Oskar's design) and the megaminx. If we analyse the Gear HM Tetrahedron to have fixed centres, then we see that there is a turning layer (like a Rubik's cube turning layer), where the pieces in that turning layer do not rotate and where every other corner and edge piece (not in that layer) rotates. We can apply this concept to the Rubik's Cube and the Megaminx to get geared versions too, where the edges and corners are gear pieces. Attached is a picture of the rubik's cube and theoretical movements of the gears. Although the Timur-style Gear Megaminx might suffer from friction problems due to the immense number of gears turning. Credit of this idea goes to Timur for the original design and to Oskar for coming up with the whole idea of geared twisty puzzles. Awesome stuff the two invented.
