Now, I spend quite a lot of my time with puzzles, and I always show my friends and family any new ones I have, but in the main I am met with little enthusiasm :( Especially my daughter (16 years old) who always has better things to do, like staying in her room listening to music, palying on her laptop or iPad.

So, last night, before I went out for a few beers, I showed her the Treasure Chest cube, opened it, put £10 inside and scrambled it. "The money is yours" said I, "If you can get it out without help from someone else or breaking it open."

says she.

Bearing in mind that Lauren has never even tried to solve a 3x3x3 before, I was expecting her to take a few days of internet searching and frustration. And when I returned later, the cube was still totally scrambled, not even one face was done :( However, my wife said that Lauren thanked me for the £10 and that there was something inside for me! She had solve it in a few hours :)

Determined to check that she had indeed solved it, I tried to solve it, but in my euphoric alcoholic stupor I kept making mistakes, so I gave up and went to bed  And this morning, when I opened it I found a note:

"Perhaps this is the start of your puzzling hobby?" I suggested. "Perhaps, but could you put a £20 note in next time" she suggested

Heartwarming.
There is hope for all of us!
At least for those who intend to spawn (?) themselves.

It all depends on what you mean by "spawn (?) themselves"

Perhaps when she is grounded you could put her inside a giant one so she has to rotate her way out?

A giant Treasure Chest! This is definitely a TF project.

Great story! :)

I have a similar story, which unfortunately hasn't been carried out yet.

Just a few days ago, it was Mother's Day. Now I didn't know (and still don't know) what to get for my mom.

So, I thought of a plan. :)

I was going to order a Treasure Chest and put the real gift inside later when I got it. The aim was to get my mom to learn how to solve the Rubik's Cube since she keeps saying she has no time to do so.

Yes, it sounds mean but if my mom can't solve it at least the Treasure Chest will be her present. :)
