I figured I would ask this question with the Seven Towers vs Dayan event going on recently. Personally, color scheme doesn't matter to much since my vision is decent, though my personal favorite is the Okamoto's color scheme he puts on his puzzles. (Black opposite grey, Red opposite yellow, and blue opposite green)

My favorite scheme is: black opposite white, red opposite yellow green opposite blue. (FBLRUD : White, Black, Yelow, Red, Up, Down)
This does not work well on a black ot a white cube. Better on a grey cube. Most cubes I applied this color scheme to are transparent.

I prefer what is often called the Japanese scheme these days. I like to refer to it as the traditional scheme since it is what was used in the 80s in the US (and elsewhere) during the original Rubik's Cube craze so it is what I got used to. I'm not really sure why they changed it (in the 90s?).
