I just received a Rubik's shells - i have questions:

Should there be any branding visible on this puzzle? (it is not in a box)

Where are the "buttons" people talk about on this puzzle?

Was there a version made with no buttons?

Has this puzzle been ko'd? (I am not talking about the super brain spinner or anything like that - my puzzle looks exactly like the one in the museum just no branding or buttons)

The buttons are that button looking thing in the center of the puzzle.
And yes, it has been copied by at least 2 different companies.

Looks like i just bought a ko then

I just have hard clear plastic in the centre of the puzzle, no button.
All circles rotate freely - i assume this is equivalent to no buttons being pushed - and when you do push a button on the original it restricts the rotation of one "wheel"?

I wasn't aware this puzzle had been ko'd, i'm gutted.

Edit: Yes Andreas my puzzle has that shape but it just clear plastic, it cannot be moved. How would i know If the buttons were already pushed in on an original version? How would the wheels be restricted?

pushed buttons are flush,or slightly indented-I can't remember which. Unpushed are raised a bit.

Off to complain to the seller who advertised it as a Rubik's Shells with a warning about pressing the irreversible buttons.

It's been so long since I've had mine out I don't remember for sure. I think the wheels are locked when the button is pushed. I vaguely remember something about 2 buttons, so it may only lock 1/2 a wheel but that makes no sense at all. If I can remember where mine are, I'll go take a look. I have 3 of them in various states of button pushedness

There are two buttons. when the buttons aren't pushed, there are four wheels that turn independently. Pushing a button makes two of the wheels turn together. Then the other button would make the other two wheels turn together.
