I was looking at some more of Daniel Urlings stuff and once again became confused over another of his world records. I don't understand what record his match cube breaks or starts.

That's confusing. The certificate simply says "record: building a Rubik's Cube out of matches".
I'm not sure how that's a valid record since you couldn't beat it. Maybe by using more matches or building a larger puzzle but that's not specified.

Keep in mind that this "record" was set in the mid-eighties, when "record" meant an extraordinary achievement. That's how these records were presented in the World Record books and how *I* at least read the "records" in these years.
