Hi all,
There is such a veriety of 3x3x3 by type, version and manufacturer, that I am completely lost now.
I just decided to learn to go fingure tricks on 3x3x3 and none of my cubes are up to scratch, really.
Can anyone suggest which manufacturer's type/ version I should get for that purpose?
Thanks in advance.
Vadim

From my experience, the Guhong, FII and Alpha Memory are all very comparable. Each has its own feel and pros and cons, but they're all amazing cubes. Personally, I'd get a Guhong and an FII.

I think it'll be DaYan Guhong.

I honestly haven't tried the F2 or the guhong, but with every ounce of truth in my soul, a modded AV with some silicone is INCREDIBLE.

LinYun with plenty of lube. I promise you won't regret it.

I own an F2. I rate it 100% in smoothness (fluidity of turns), 100% in stability (never pops(, and 90% in corner cutting (it does the job unless you force it to its limits on purpose).

I tried Izovire's Gu Hong as well. I rate it 100% smoothness, 100% stability, and 110% corner cutting.

I used to own a Type-A, but I got pops on it so frequently, I ended up shooting it with a 50 caliber black powder rifle. Great smoothness and corner cutting between F2 and Gu Hong. Keep in mind, Izovire actually modified his Gu Hong so it's much faster than an average one (which I also tried and find less smooth).

Hmm, I don't know about 100% stability on that GuHong... I've tried quite a few which were pretty poppy. Some were even considerably tight. Although the Guhong is probably the best speedcube, I still prefer the overall slick, bubbly feel of a good FII.

Izovire's modified one is perfectly stable and smooth. I've tried a normal Gu Hong as well and it was less smooth and stable, and I prefer my F2 over the unmodified Gu Hong. But Izovire's mod makes the cube unbelievable. My F2 is my main speedcube because the Gu Hong is actually too fast for me.

I ordered GuHong, but how can I find out what Izovire modified in it?
Is there a video or something?

I've always used a standard "Rubik's" 3x3, but also if lubed it has always been quite stiff...

Today I was given a Guhong... they're absolutely not comparable! The Guhong is incredibly smooth and has a very large cut angle, and I haven't lubed it yet! It's on another planet respect to the "Rubik's"...

I also tried the Lingyun, but it isn't as smooth as the Guhong...

I use a Dayan GuHong since middle of 2010. It's a very stable cube, it doesn't pop when adjusted right, and it can cut corners as no one else.
The first impression is not as good as you may think, because of some "clicking" when twisted fast. But when you use frequently, it'll get smoother. Mine is perfect now!
I think this "clicking" can be reduced instantly when sanding (just a little) the inside tips of the edges mechanism, because it normally scrapes under the center.
Dayan LingYun is almost the same mechanism of GuHong, but more rounded internally, and it pops a little more (maybe because of the more-tensioned screws and/or the rounded pieces), so it's because I prefer the GuHong.
My friend (Gabriel Dechichi - 3x3x3 SAR) uses a GuHong for normal solve and an untensioned LingYun for OH.
I hope I've helped you.

The Rubik's brand of any cube is not a speedcube. Occasionally you'll get the one lucky cube that turns better than most Rubik's brand cubes, but Rubik's cubes don't compare to ANY of the cubes meant for speedcubing.

I'm discovering this only now :( , because I never tried to speedcube before...
That's why I've got a Guhong :D
