I have a choice of either getting Tom's 3x4x5, Tom's Helicopter Skewb, or Shim's Scalium, F-Skewb, and the new DaYan Gem Cube (the last three together), and I can't decide which one(s) I want.

Which one(s) would you guys want, and why?

I would go with Shim's Scalium, F-Skewb and the new DaYan Gem cube.

all of this three are unique, while the helicopter skewb is very nice its still only one puzzle, which will add you only
one more move (in case you already have an helicopter cube).

the 3x4x5 is nice but im just not a big fan of this kind of puzzles, im more in to shapes and new mechanisms..

This is quite a tough one. I would go for the Scalium, F-Skewb and the DaYan Gem, but there's also close competition with the Helicopter Skewb. You shouldn't ask us what we want, these are your puzzles! Think about which one(s) you would prefer the most.

I have been in similar situations, and I have always opted to get as many puzzles as I can. Getting multiple challenges to try and solve is better in my opinion.

I've voted for Tom's 3x4x5.
It is the most challenging cuboid I own.
(Garrett's 4x4x5 is very nice too! :) )
I've got the F-Skewb and while it is nice, it is tiny and not very stable.
Don't know about the Scalium.
I've prordered the Gem Cube, but I'm not sure, if it is much harder than a Helicopter Cube.

Because the face elements do not stick out so much as in F-Skewb, both Scalium and Triamond are pretty stable - I never had a single pop!

The gem is easier than the helicopter (there are no corners)

I votes or the three puzzles, because I think it's great to have a lot of puzzles to learn to solve (even if two are the same, but in different shapes!)

The thing is, I'm torn between the choices. You guys have helped me a lot, thanks! I'm going with the most chosen choice.

Also, does anyone know where to get the springs, stickers, and/or screws for the Scalium and F-Skewb? Thanks!

P.S. I just realized that springs, stickers, and screws are the 3 S's of printed puzzles.

Yes, you need screws, springs, and stickers. Usually some length of M3 screws work, some puzzles are designed to be used with springs, but some aren't. M3 screws are often available at smaller hardware stores. Don't go to the big warehouse retailers (like Lowes or Home Depot) as they mainly cater to carpentry and construction work, they don't sell the tiny screws or extremely fine grit sandpapers used in puzzle building or other hobbey projects. I would recommend buying some Type A D.I.Y screw + spring kits from C4U. Discard the screws and just use springs and washers from the kits. The springs have a nice tension on them that work well with puzzles. Most puzzle designers that sell kits on shapeways have sent the sticker templates to Dr Sticker. Generally, once you've ordered the puzzle, you can PM the designer either through Shapeways or Twistypuzzles forum, and they will send you the templates and tell you what screws to use. Any other odd materials necessary for assembly (dyes, magnets, etc) they will usually provide links about where to buy them. Keep in mind that certain types of products may be sold under different names varying by region and brand. If you want black puzzles, you can let Shapeways dye it (at a premium), or you will need to either buy dye powder (puzzle parts must be boiled in the dye solution - once mixed, the dye can be stored and reused many times), or if you're afraid of making a huge mess with volatile dyes, simply use the ink tubes from Sharpie markers to color the surface. It takes a while to do, but the end result looks just as good. Good luck and enjoy your puzzles. I find puzzle assembly to be a very insightful and rewarding experience.

After seeing a topic, I have decided to buy a different custom puzzle instead. I will not elaborate on this, but will show it to everyone when I get it.
